You guys are so good at giving advice but sometimes I'm not real clear with my questions. So pardon if this looks like I am posting over and over again.
I had sent out a DV request to LTD in Aug 07. Yesterday I received a packet from them. It contained several copies of statements from the original creditor and a copy of a POA I had given to a debt management Co years back. (That Debt management Co had since made off with my money and disappeared…but that’s all in another thread)
They did not provide me with documentation on how they came to hold this debt. How-ever what they did send is pretty overwhelming evidence.
Do I send them another request for DV or do I start to negotiate with them??????

Bumping this up so that a forum member will see and help you with this problem. Hang on. Someone will be along to answer you! :D

I would see if you could settle. From what I see with what you left they have some pretty goods evidence that this debt belongs to you and how the amount came to be. I actualy know some people that work there. If you want to PM me with what type of debt it is I will see if I can ask a contact there if they can get you to a reasonable person.

I couldn????????t sleep all night?????????????????????..but I was able to draft up an offer letter using bits and pieces of the templates on this site. I????????ll get it off to the post office and send it certified mail.
I????????ll keep you all posted????????????????????????????????????????????????????????I will only relax after I settle this.
It kills me that there was enough money in my account with Miracle Management Group in 2005 to pay off what they had offered?????????????????????..and those crooks took my money and ran off. It should never have gone this far. I will never trust anyone to settle my affairs again.

LDT must have received my offer letter. I have not received the signed receipt but they did leave me a voice message today. I returned the call which was not easy because I could not understand the guy????????s name or extension number. I had to listen to it over and over again. I was not even close with the extension, but the receptionist was nice and helped me find the right person. He was not in and I had to leave him a message.
Now the phone tag begins.
I assume that I should not accept any deals over the phone without a written offer.
Is this correct?

Yes, that would be correct and if it is legal in your state, record the phone call with this person and ask him to send all agreements to you in written and that you will return your answer (after you make a copy of the letter/agreement) to this person certified with return reciept request. They will agree to this if they want their money from you.

Ok so twice LTD has left messages at about 12:30pm and twice I called at about 6PM est. Both times the person who I called was not their desk and I left messages to call me between 5:30 and 8pm at my home phone. I do not want to call them from work for fear that they will get the phone ID and start calling at work.
I????????m I doing enough or can this be looked on as evading the payment? I have not heard if they accepted my offer yet

FYI if your there: What do you think?
