There isn't much info in your state laws. Can you please tell us if these are store fronts or internet loans? The exact amount you have borrowed on each and exactly how much has been paid on each, including fee's. I am sure others will be along soon to help also.
You will find the Payday loan laws for Massachusetts here (just select your state),

And please read this info about closing your account: http://

guest, you reside in MA? The MA law posted above states that pdls are PROHIBITED in your state. None. Nothing. Prohibited. Unless you are in a state with some kind of funky loophole like PA has. I don't even believe Geneva Roth is licensed/legal anyway. And I don't believe the Loan Shop is licensed/legal either. Have you read the link morningstarr provided for you regarding closing your bank account? Read that carefully and if you have any questions, just post them. These guys are taking you for every penny you have. Now, who is CTS and NLS? See what you can do regarding your bank account. When are the debits due to hit your account again? If it's SOON, you may not be able to totally close it out without it being "forced" back open due to pending pdl debits. In that case, you may need to do a hard debit block on it so nothing goes through. Please post any questions that you have. :D

thanks cannr. My bank said that it will reopen if I close it when the debits try to get in.My bank, usaa, said it cannot put any block or stops to this. I just opened a new checking account today at a different bank. I am going to switch my direct deposits into this new bank to try and get my paycheck again. This is so depressing. It is sucking the energy out of me.
The AG office was uninformed and not familiar. They gave me a number to call- The Office of Thrift Supervisions, I think because I have a Federal bank, I don't know because it is only a recording. I had to leave a message. I am going to their website next. Can I just walk away from all of this and not worry about usaa going after me? I just called Geneva Roth. To pay off these loans they said I need 260, 260, 390. CTS is cash transfer centers. Thanks for listening.

Tin, be careful about letting you old account go into the negative. Even if you opened a new account, it could be closed. If your old account goes into the red, and you do not bring it current, you will be reported to Chex System. If your new bank does a scan , which they usually do for the first three months , they wil close your account. This will make it very difficult to open another account. You stay on Chex for 5 years I think.
thank you for telling me that. I did not know this.

It is real important. I dont know why your bank will not put a hard block on ACh transactions. Did you actually speak to the branch manager about this? They should really be able to do this for you.

tin, your bank needs to do something with your account. I understand you have opened a new account; however, leaving the other one open/active is just going to leave it for the plds to keep hitting. Then you're going to have NSF fees out the ying yang. Then you will owe the bank all that money. And they will put a negative mark on you. Your new account might be in trouble then. You need to get a manager on that phone regarding this. If it can be forced open, then they need to do a hard debit block on it. They can and should do this. Tell the manager you have fraudulent activity on this account. Tell the manager you are working with an attorney regarding this. Tell them whatever it takes to get this thing blocked. You do not need anything going through. It will cause you to go into the negative and you will be held responsible for the bank fees. As for your pdls, they need to be stopped. No, Geneva Roth can kiss your butt. Illegal. Cash Transfer Centers, another illegal one. HOWEVER, Cash Transfer Centers will send a wage assigment to your employer. We need you to do a letter revoking any wage assignment NOW. You have to do this before they have a chance to send it to your employer. If they send this and your employer honors it, they will take the money out of your check. All you need to do is type up a quick to the point letter. Put their information at the top, then type: "I (state your name) hereby revoke any and all wage assignments I may have signed with your company, your partners, or any affiliates." Type your name. Your done. But it is VERY important. Email it/fax it/mail it certified to Cash Transfer Centers. Keep a copy. Give a copy to your payroll person. Wage assignments are voluntary. Your employer does not have to honor it. Do this NOW. Then get on the phone to your idiot bank and tell them FRAUDULENT activity. Tell them you have an attorney. Only speak with a manager, not a customer service person. You need to get this blocked now. If they can't close it, they can block it. Stress FRAUD.
