Hi,
I just received a phone call from Great Lakes collection agency and spoke with a Susan... She wanted me to give out my husbands credit card number to post date and I told her when I had the money in 3 days I would send a money gram but I would not give her any credit or check numbers over the phone..She then proceeded to say that I had to and that she had MY CHECKING account information. I took that as a threat to enter my checking account without authorization... She also said she would contact my references... I told her that it didn't matter how much she said to me I was certainly not giving her any numbers and would not deal with her in the future... She the said "do you understand what post dated means?" I told her I did and didn't need her definition and it didn't matter what the term meant she still wasn't getting my info.. In the end I hung up on her and sure I will hear from her again soon.. Does anyone else know of this company or this Susan person?

If she has your checking account info- why does she need you to give HER info?! Don't worry, they all threaten people.

I thought that this was the name that NCO used to go by, but am not sure.

If you haven't sent them a debt validation letter,do so, before you send a payment. You need to make sure these people are legally able to collect this debt, that it is yours, and the amounts are correct. Send it certified, return receipt and keep copies and notes of everthing, including conversations with them.

Is this a credit card account, and when was the last time you made a payment and to whom?

With a little more info- we will be able to put you in the right direction! good luck..karen :D

Karen,
Thank you for that info and I will be sure to get a validation letter. Is there one online that I could print out and sign? She wanted my husbands info and saying she had mine I guess was suppose to scare me or something into giving her another one. She was extremely rude to me and when it comes to that I have a very short fuse and end up hanging up on them in the end... Any helpful information is greatly appreciated and thank you for your post.. Very helpful.
Thanks

You are welcome! Here is a link for a sample letter at http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/forums/about216.html you can tweak it to fit your particuliar needs.

Some will validate, some won't, or will partially validate.

If you have been making payments to them, not sure how effective a DV letter will be.

Good Luck..karen :D
