Night of the Living Debt!

It was the night before Halloween and I was sleeping soundly in my own warm bed when suddenly I rolled over and fell out with a thud! I awoke to find myself on a dismal dark wet deserted city street!
“What place is this?” I asked myself. “I must be dreaming.”
I picked myself up and began to walk cautiously toward the only light I could see about two blocks away past the piled up trash and darkened buildings. As I passed an old dumpster, there, in a doorway, sat an old woman with a tattered old trench coat and a scarf tied around her head and under her chin.
“Where am I?” I asked.
“Need some cash?” she replied.
“I just want to know where I am. I am not asking for money?”
“You will be!” she cackled. “You will be.” She began to laugh insanely and as she looked up at me her eyes glowed with little green dollar signs and her skin turned the color and texture of green mold and she began to give off a putrid odor that could only come from hell. “Your favorite color, Frog?” She continued to laugh out loud.

I walked away almost running down the street toward the light. I approached an intersection where a dim street lamp still barely glowed. Just then my cell phone rang.
“Hello!”
“Need some cash?” It was her and that laugh. How did she get this number?
“No!” I shouted.
“Oh no?” she squawked. “Turn around!”
I spun around and walking towards me was at least two dozen men with blank stares wearing cheap polyester leisure suits and bad toupees. They were almost chanting over and over. “He owes us money. Get his money. Pay up now.” I began to run down the street and around the corner. Face to face with the old woman again.
“Cash? Need cash?”
I pushed her out of the way and kept running until I saw another group of them coming from the other direction,
“We can smell your cash.” One of them yelled. “Cash!”
I turned to run the other way and I realized I was boxed in. They drew closer and closer. I spotted an alley and ran down as fast as I could. I could see a train stopped at the end. My lungs felt as if they were going to burst. As I got closer I could hear the conductor yelling “Board!’
I ran and stretched to reach and just as the train was pulling out I grabbed the handle as the conductor shouted. “All aboard for Cash Call!”
It was too late! The train was moving too fast for me to jump off.

Thanks you guys. I've been searching the net for job postings in the Eugene area. i live in Portland right now, but my husband and i decided that it's too expensive to keep living up here. Our family's in Eugene anyway. We just pray every night that the Lord will look over us and that we will each find a job there soon. I applied for unemployment, and my wait week should be done soon. I think I've applied at every bank and credit union in Eugene, but no body is hiring right now. Volley...I'll PM you and find out where you area and see if we can think up something. You guys mean a lot to me. You helped me out when I first came on with my panic from Bass extorting money from me. I've learned a lot, and haven't done a payday loan since. Not even now when their ads say it's a good time to do it. LOL!

If you do not remember we had all been running from a bunch of stoner biker zombies and had escaped into a doorway on the side of an old theater that was opened by a woman in a Dolphins shirt. We had sat down to catch our breath and I saw some familiar faces talking in the next room. Our story continues.


After about 5 minutes of hearing the pounding on the door from outside it got quiet. I got up and walked to the door and saw several people talking. One was that freaky princess lady only now she was dressed like a ballerina and without the hiking boots. There were two little people, a man and a woman, in dog costumes holding their pug and wiener dog heads under there arms. There was also Morning sans the wings. I saw there was a buffet set up across the room. I started to enter the room when a stern voice came from behind me.
???????Not now. You will have plenty of time to mingle and eat later, Right now I need all of you upstairs.??????? It was the woman in the Dolphins shirt. She pointed to a stairway.
???????When you get up there you will see a big room with a blue screen. Wait there!???????
We went up the stairs and there was a big room with a bright blue screen just as she said. There were huge video cameras and some chairs. We walked in and waited.
???????What do they do here???????? Volleyball girl asked.
???????Special effects.??????? Air Force Mom replied. ???????They film you in front of a blue screen and then they can fill in anything they need around you.???????
Just then a couple of men walked in and got behind the cameras. Another sat down behind a desk like panel full of switches.
???????Sound check, check check.??????? He said into a mike. ???????Lights.???????
The lights became much brighter, In walked the Dolphins woman.
She sat down in one of the chairs facing the screen.
???????OK you!??????? she pointed at me. Get up on the platform in front on the screen. Do not look at the cameras. When I say action you are going to face stage right, pick up that trash can over your head and throw it stage left directly at the camera. Then you will find a weird looking white cat behind where the can was. You will pick it up by the nape of the neck, turn back to stage left and shove it toward the camera feet first. Then put it down gently because it is a live cat. At that point I will have said cut. Get it right the first time and you will be out of here. Ready????????
???????What if I don????????t do this????????
???????Simple. You won????????t get paid.???????
???????Paid????????
???????All actors get paid. Why do you think it costs so much for a ticket? Ready????????
???????Yes ma????????am!???????
???????OK then. Action!???????
I picked up the can and sure enough there was this weird cat behind it. I threw the can at the camera, turned and bent down and picked up the cat. I whirled around and shoved it towards the camera. How strange I thought.
???????Cut! Good job. Now I want you too run from the right to the left as if you are being chased. Ready!???????
I took my place and nodded.
???????Action!???????
These drills went on for what seemed like hours. They had me falling down. Swinging a metal pipe in thin air and all sorts of things. Then they she put the others through similar drills. When it was all over we were escorted back down where we ate and drank to our hearts content. I looked at the back of the Dolphins lady????????s shirt. Marino 13 it said.
???????Figures she is still living in the Shula era I thought. I really can????????t blame her for that.???????
She turned around and announced, ???????There is a limo outside that will bring you to your Hotel. In your rooms you will find a fresh change of clothes that look exactly like the ones you are wearing. Do not leave the hotel until they pick you up at 6 PM tomorrow. Sign everything to your rooms. If any of you are concerned about your families, they know where you are and agreed to this weeks ago. Money talks as they say. See you all back here tomorrow.???????

We ended the last page leaving for the Hotel after a grueling special effects blue screen workout. We continue from there???????.

The following morning we all met downstairs in the hotel restaurant for breakfast. It was Air Force Mom, Luke, Volley and myself. Our director/personal trainer said she would meet us there with someone she wanted to introduce. The server had brought us some coffee and juice and Volley was already devouring every word on the menu.
???????The crabmeat omelet with baby artichokes sounds good!??????? she stated.
???????Maybe to you.??????? Luke said. ???????But not me! Not this early!???????
???????What are you gonna have???????? she asked me.
Before I could answer her, in walked the director wearing, not a Dolphins shirt, but a conservative gray business suit with a Dolphins brooch. Accompanying her was a woman of obvious stature.
This is the person who writes the checks for this entire venture. She is known to all of us as Kash. Her name has nothing to do with cash money. It is spelled with a K. She is here from New York where she will explain to you exactly what has been happening and what you can expect. Lets give her a welcome.
???????Nice to meet all of you!??????? She said. ???????I am Kash and I am the executive producer.???????
No one could miss that Hermes bag on her shoulder or the Versace suit..
???????Let me tell you precisely what is going on. One of you is totally clueless except for what little was explained to you already. That would be you.???????
She politely gave an open hand gesture toward me.
???????You were brought here because you fit the need. We knew you were calm enough not to panic and had a reputation of being a good sport. The rest of you have some idea because you were hired for your jobs or in your case,??????? she looked at Air Force Mom, ???????have been in similar ventures before. I assure you however that this one is completely unique.
While you were running around the landscape and cityscape there were cleverly hidden cameras filming and parabolic mikes picking up your every sound. You saw the one camera in the truck but they were everywhere you were. There were also crews filming other parts of the film in other locations simultaneously. Last night at the old theater we had set up a blue screen where you all acted out some partial scenes. Those scenes are being filled in with other actors and stunt doubles to produce the final action scene of the film. What is unique about this film is that it is the first full length epic that is being viewed over the internet by, we hope , one hundred thousand viewers or more. There is also a film preview in several theaters around the country tomorrow night. One of the theaters is right here in downtown Tampa. It is the historic Tampa theater where you were last night. Tomorrow you will all be there for the showing. I think you will be amazed at what our editors could do in such a short while.
The story is actually a public service movie by a website dedicated to keeping people out of debt. It is designed to scare people from getting caught up in the credit trap. We think it will serve its purpose well. You four are the poor souls who got put here in the strange land to teach you a lesson in the story. I hope you enjoy the screening. Nice meeting you all.???????
???????Kash???????? asked Volley. ???????Are you going to be there tomorrow night for the screening????????
???????No, I????????m going to Disney World!???????
She turned and walked toward the door.
She turned back by the door waved and said. ???????Thank you all for your hard work.???????
