I got a car repo'ed in '96, it rode my credit report for 7 years, then my report showed "written off by account holder." I haven't heard or seen anything on any of my credit reports in the last four years, now all of a sudden I get a letter saying that so-and-so purchased this account from so-and-so and I owe $14K! WTF? Can they collect or are they just fishing?

I've been on here for about twenty minutes and am leaning loads of info! So the debt was in Ca., which I understand that the SOL is 4 years. So I should copy one of your templates for "validation" and send it to them, and, bottom feeders that they are, will refuse to reply because it's not a valid debt?
