Hi, can anyone tell me if there is a statute of limitations on a medical bill? I allegedly owe a bill for emergency room services from 10/27/2000. I never had any communications from the third party collection agency however I just spoke w/them. I am not even sure if I owe this amount but will be calling my insurance carrier for further info.

I am located in the state of MD. What is the statute of limitations, if there is one?

Thanks for any information.

Sounds like it is out of the SOL to me too. I would call my insurance company though, and see if they paid on it and what was paid, for future reference. If they send you something in writing, send them a debt validation letter, making them prove that this isn't still in the SOL.

Good Luck!!..karen :D

thanks again. This is old stuff so I honestly do not remember if I was contacted by the CA, but I do not believe I was and would have send the DV request out. Additionally when I questioned the CA yesterday they told me that the bill indicated I had no health insurance which is wierd because I certainly did have it.

Hope I can figure out this mess!
