Cameron, I saw another post by you..your storefronts are in DC and you are in MD correct?

For your internets..list the company, how much you borrowed from each and the total of how much you have paid to each. I will post the laws in the mean time..if Cannr has not gotten to them first :D

roxy, looks like cam might be good regarding the internet loans seeing as how pdls are prohibited in Maryland. However, the storefronts are going to be another story, since pdls are allowed in DC. Good question, though. cam, what is the status of yourbank account? Some of your storefronts may be members of the CFSA. However, if you bank account is closed, I can't say as to what kind of action ACE can take since DC pdl law does not state what kind of "criminal action" can be taken.

I'm only showing Check n Go as a member of the CFSA also. The others aren't showing as members. And these storefronts have checks from your "old" account which is no longer active? Is that correct?

Cam, Check n Go is a member of the CFSA. Go in person, talk to the manager, and print out the link above. Because they are members of the CFSA they are REQUIRED to allow you to enter into an extended repayment plan (EPP). If they still say no, file a complaint with the CFSA. They could lose their membership. In order to invoke an EPP you must go in no later than the day before the loan is due.

Okay. As long as your account that they have checks in their hand for is not closed, I think we'll be okay. I was getting frightened for a moment because DC law does not state what kind of action they can take. So.... the storefronts in DC have checks from your old account. Okay. So if they turn them in, they would be returned NSF. Now, like roxy stated, you can go to Check n Go and invoke the EPP (extended payment plan) if you go in BEFORE the due date of your loan. You can then sign an amendment to your loan documents which allows you to pay the loan off in 4 equal payments coinciding with your pay dates. However, the others do not seem to be CFSA members. Have you made any payments to them at all on these checks?

cam, okay, go to Check n Go and invoke the EPP. That's going to save your butt. With these storefronts having checks from a closed account, I honestly do not know what kind of legal recourse they have, as it is not stated on DC pdl law. I hate that. If they try to turn them in and get them returned as "closed account", I honestly do not know what kind of action they can take. I would HATE for it to be ugly. Have you tried at all to contact these storefronts to see if they will take payments? You can try that route. See if there is a way they will HOLD your check and you can pay on them. That way they may not even try to turn them into the bank. I'm just concerned because I do not know what legal recourse they have if they are returned due to closed account. Have you paid nothing on them? They're due in full?

Cam, do not worry about the internet ones for nowif they do not have your bank info and can not debit your account. PDLS are prohibited in your state and you have overpaid them all. These you can handle yourself...Get the storefronts taken care of asap....We will help you with the internets next.

The CFSA is a joke. I had two pdl's with storefronts and they wouldn't set me up on a EPP. They were Check N Go and Checksmart and I filed a complaint with the CFSA and got a form letter back that stated it was up to the individual corporate office of the storefront to offer EPP - it's not a given.

guest, did you call the corporate office of your storefronts and inquire about the CFSA and the EPP?

Monique,
I wanted to get back in contact with you to set up these payments to get the $350 principle balance taken care of in a timely manner. We are willing to work with you, but ask that you work with us as well. As I stated in our phone call the payment for $155 will go through to your bank account tomorrow. I understand you would like to make payments via money order. We can set those up with you, but I need to know dates and amounts you will be sending these in. We generally will split up the payments into 2 or 3 payments for our customers. Please get back with me as soon as possible to begin setting up these arrangements.

Thank you,

Adrienne Hansen

Was the borrowed amount $350.00? And have you paid anything on it? Sorry if you've already stated this information.

Because pdls are nasty! Sorry, just being honest here! They will try to hit your account no matter what, for various amounts, etc. They never cease to amaze me.

To everyone living in Maryland the Maryland State Commissioner of Financial Regulation ordered MTE to cease and desist payday loan lending in the state in November 2005. To see a copy of the order paste the attached link in your browser
http://www.dllr.state.md.us/da/default.aspx?OrderID=16

It appears that MTE is violating the order which could cost them a pretty penny.
