Today I found a piece of paper by my back door that appears to be a summons by Resurgence Financial LLC. I have never heard of this company, and they claim I owe them over $27,000! Can you help me?

I am sorry that I do not have a lot of advice to give you but I am sure someone with more experience will be along soon.
First, DO NOT ignore the summons. My mom ignored one and now her wages are being garnished.
I would send them a debt validation letter. If you search on this sight there are many people who can give you examples of what a Debt Valadation is. Once you have the letter, send it registered mail so you have proof of delivery.
Also search this site for the name of the company sending you the summons to see if others have posted about them.
One piece of advice, NEVER give them your checking account number!

Care, please apply for a free consultation or give a debt counselor here a call-its free & they can help!

Also, so a search on here to see if anyone else has dealt w/ Resurgence. The search bar is in the upper right hand corner.

Have you pulled your credit report? It might show on there if a debt was sold off to a collection agency.

Hi Caren, welcome to the forums! first of all answer that summons within your time frame and send a debt validation letter. also please type in that company in the search bar that youll find to the upper right hand side...that way you can see many many others who have dealt with this company. from what i read they like to sue even though they have violated the fair credit laws. please read on and hopefully someone will see this post as you will be bumped up and they can answer you a little quicker. You need to validate that debt and answer the summons. keep in touch

I have "ignored" a portion of my debt up until now. Unfortunately the creditor gave up on me and gave the case to a debt collector. What should I do? I do not have the money to pay them.

Thanks for any help

You need to file an " Order to show cause" with the court. This will throw a monkey wrench in their plan. They will have to prove that you owe the debt to an actual judge.
