Being harrassed by 500 Fast Cash-MTE

Out of 15 ipdls, I am now down to 4 and 2 will be paid off tomorrow! It is all due to this wonderful forum! Anyway, 1 of the 2 left is 500 Fast Cash. They have recently started harrassing me, after not hearing from them for awhile. And yes, I have filed complaints with the OK State Consumer Credit (I'm an OK resident), OK BBB and Northern Nevada BBB--where they did have a physical address. So far, the OK CCC tells me they are on Indian land, blah, blah, blah, and their hands are tied. I haven't heard yet from the OK BBB or the NV BBB.
Anyway, got a call today. I took out a 450$ loan on June 29. I have paid at least $270 on it. This was not my first loan with them. They want $885 to pay it off! Can you believe that? I also sent them a request for a DV letter this week, which they claim they sent by e-mail on the 6th. Yeah right, I never got it. So today, on the phone call I stood my ground, told him I disputed the amount, etc, was not going to pay it. He told me I had to contact him by 3 p.m. today and I had until 11:59 tonight to pay it. If I don't contact him to make arrangements, it will go to a third party collector and "My situation will get much worse", he says.
What will they do next, and what should I do? He has almost scared me into making payment arrangements by 3 p.m. today. Need advice.

I do not remember the particulars of your situation...is this one Licensed and Legal? Either way, I would almost rather work with a third party. Atleast I would have fdcpa to help me not be harrassed. There are laws they have to follow as a third party collection agency... i have four of my pdls in collections and I have to say it is easier becuase atleast they are following the law and are not bothering me...they are taking their own sweet time trying to validate my debt which is ok too.

That is encouraging news that it is easier to work with the collection agencies! NO, this one is not licensed. It is part of the infamous MTE/Rio resources group. They "claim" they have sovereign immunity because they are located on Indian land, whereas on their own account summary papers, they state they are under US jursidiction and follow US laws. What a bunch of baloney! They left Nevada and are now located in Oklahoma. Anyway, I guess I will wait for the collection calls. Do they get listed on your credit report as being in collections?

srowan..it can happen. but if it gets listed on your credit report, you can file a dispute and get it off. Cannr and several others have had this trouble and that is how they resolved it. If it is an MTE company, you may not be better off with the CA and the CA may be in house not 3rd party. They do not always know what they are talking about when they spew idle threats. I would still tell them to quit calling and just send me to collections....

Well, just an update: After the ominous phone call yesterday pushing me to pay $885 to settle my account, guess what was in my email this morning? An e-mail from the Tulsa,OK BBB regarding 500 Fast Cash. Seems 500 Fast Cash has offered to let me pay $180 (big difference from 885, huh?) to settle my account, pay by Monegram by 11/30. This is the amount that would equal my payments my original loan, with no interest, no fees. So I took them up on it! It is so funny, I guess they tried one last time by phone to get me to cave to the $885, when they knew they had already sent that information to the BBB! I sure would have kicked myself if I had agreed to pay the $885 and then gotten that e-mail about 180, wouldn't you?

Thanks roxy! It is all due to the encouragement I have gotten from you guys! Next, I have to continue fighting Geneva Roth, but my pdl days are just about over. I could never, ever have dreamed it would have worked out so well, and I never could have done a thing without all of you in this community!
