This was pm'd to me by Shaqlover and I decided to post it to the fourm in case other members have had experinces with this company and have advice to help Shaqlover out.

I have a loan with cash link and they have been taking $ from me for a $300 loan since August. I tried to call them last week and i got in touch with someone to find out if i could pay this off already because i have paid so much so far. I tried to call today and they say they will return tomorrow and their mail box is full. Do you think there could be a problem i should be concerned with? i think the loan is prohibited because i live in NJ. I was thinking if i can not get them tomorrow i will tell my bank to refund my $ they will be taking and that should make them get in touch with me. what did you do and what do you suggest? Please help me. I;m at my wits end and i want to stop this i can't afford this any longer.

I double checked in several places in the fourm and you are correct about the pdls being prohibited. You need to take care of your checking account before they can debit again. Calling them will not stop them from debiting, in fact in some cases pdls have debited the whole amount due rather thatn the payment. Do not contact the pdl until you take care of your account. Please read below about closing your account. It has really good information in it.

Before you close your bank account due to payday loans eating away at your paycheck, please read this.

Some banks have a policy regarding ach transactions that allows them to force open closed accounts if any ach transactions go through within a certain time frame after the account is closed. This can leave you owing a legal bank $1,000's and reported to chexsystems, instead of owing barely legal (or not at all legal) payday loan companies. Not a good thing. Ask your bank what their policy is on ach transactions on closed accounts before you close the account. It's best to go in person and talk to a branch manager.

If your bank does have this policy, tell them your situation. Don't be embarrassed. Take letters with you showing that you have revoked authorization for each of your payday loan companies to debit your account. Tell the bank to put your account on deposit only, an ach block, or a hard hold before they close the account. Your bank can do one of those, don't take no for an answer. This will prevent any payday loan ach's from reopening the bank account.

It'a always best to close your bank account. Leaving it open gives ways for the payday loan companies to continue to take money out. These companies have many different dba's, so blocking them won't work. They will also produce paper checks and run them through your account. Closing the account is the best way to prevent these companies from taking money out of your account.

Some state laws do allow for prosecution if you close your bank account, but that is usually in cases of fraud. But it's always best to check with your state's attorney general or department of financial institution before you close your account. You want to make sure you are not causing more heacaches!

Is Cash Link the actual pdl? I went to the Cash Link website and it looks as though they just have links to pdl sites. So, is it Cash Link that is the actual pdl or is the pdl another name?

Oh, you had one with them? Good. Well, not "good", but at least you might have information. All I came up with was the stupid website with different pdls you can apply for. I just SHUDDERED looking at it!

They are one of my unsolved, mailed the letter, never heard a thing, never call, never contacted me...I am so not complaining but I do not know much about them other than I have overpaid them. I think they were the ones that gave me the loan without my applying...twice, I had two. I will have to double check that tomorrow too. :)

Hi Everyone! Thank you Roxy Ny. I think i'm going to call my bank and tell them that i want the charges they just charged me today reversed. I'll tell them the truth about over paying these jerks. I'll see what they say as far as getting the $ back to me. What do you guys think? Should i do that or should i let them have this $ they took from me today? I really can use the cash. I have bills.
