Posting PDL Letters on the Board
Date: Fri, 11/16/2007 - 07:58
I just wanted to let everyone know that they should think before they post the letters they sent to the pdl's on the board. This is a public forum, and many payday lenders have been known to browse the forum. You may want to only post part of your letters, or send them to people by PM. That way any onlookers will not be able to match a letter to a username, or get you for breaking some confidentiality clause.
If you do decide you want to post a letter you sent, please take the time to remove all personal information from it. This would be your name, address, any account numbers, etc. It's never a good idea to post that info on a public forum!
I know many people are newer and haven't been around for too long, and don't know that pdl companies look to this site to gather info. So I just wanted to put that out there so everyone could make an informed decision before posting something that could potentially ID them to the "enemy".

That's true- also the collection agencies, or some of them, visit here to, so be carefull what info you post.
The one I am working with told me they knew where I was getting my info- and named this site!!..karen

I remeber several times when payday loan companies posted nasty messages to members about their loans!
Most recently, someone here had a pdl they were fighting with post some crap about them. So it does happen with some frequency.

Goudah- I was also wondering about when someone posts a letter they get from a pdl, is it breaking their agreement to do this if it says to keep terms confidential?

Well, i suppose we all worry about different things. Any collector who would troll these boards is looking for info. Especially since they work on commission
Yes, it is absolutly breaking the confidentiality agreement. Ma
Yes, it is absolutly breaking the confidentiality agreement. Many letters have had to be removed because if the pdl saw it, the poster could be sued for whatever amount the contract stated, usually about $10,000.
Whenever a PIF letter states that the term must be kept confidential, if you post it here, you are breaking that agreement and can be taken to court over it.

That's what I thought! Guest- there are all sorts of people who troll websites. If you don't give out personal or identifying info- there is no problem..karen
The Ca that told me they knew about this website were told by me- great-now maybe you know the laws!..

More than a few of us have gotten responses from pdls that say we have sent them a letter that is "circulating the internet." Even though I made my own letter and didn't copy a template, there's no doubt in my mind that more often than not, they know where we are getting our information and knowledge from!!!!!

Goudah, thank you for posting the reminder. I know it really made me think when on one of the members threads, the pdl company posted, knew it was them (the member) and posted harrassing stuff. It is bad enough we have to put up with the phone calls and e-mails personally, but here, where it is supposed to be safe and you are supposed to be anonymous...is too much.
Guest, we have had numerous collectors as members on our boards.

That's so true fins...they can give us info we might not get any where else...as to how collectors work and the "what happens next" kind of thing.

That's right morningstar...the CA's (who belong to this site) have helped me understand the inner workings of a collection agency. If you (guest) are really interested in paying your debt (if it has gone to collections) and helping your credit report...you should read their posts. You could lean alot.
