i recent recieved a letter from south carolina for a warrant for my arrest, for unpaid / unresolved payday loans, over a period of 8 months. can any1 help think this thru... will i get arrested??? should i get a lawyer???

Was it from the sheriff of your county? If it has any appearance of being an 'official' document, you probably should call an attorney to get some legal advice. There should be some sort of case # or complaint, and it would probably need to be captioned as "People of the State of South Carolina vs. (you)"

If it is just a letterhead from the payday store or their attorney, then that is a major no-no and you should hold it as evidence.

As far as I know, you can't be arrested over debts because they are only a civil matter. Unless somehow they can prove fraud, then it might become criminal.

I am curious about this....in SC (the original poster here) criminal action is prohibited for collection of PDL's so to me, that was the first red flag that it could be fake.

These PDL's already call people and id themselves as the FBI,CIA whatever..so now fake warrants too?? Debtcruncher raises a good point...keep that thing for evidence.
