Someone from Certified Recovery Systems contacted a friend looking for me. First, I have no idea how they got my friend's number, second I have no idea why they're contacting my friends when I've recieved nothing in the mail or by email from them, and third I've no idea why they're looking for me in the first place. Since I don't have a phone and can't call them, does anyone have some other means of getting in touch with this company? I've visited their web site, which was decidedly unhelpful.

You can contact Certified Recovery System at the following address.

7207 Regency Square, Suite 100
Houston, TX 77036
Principal: John Bell, Compliance Manager
Phone Number: 713-464-8322

It’s a collection agency trying to collect some debt from you. Write a letter to them requesting for the nature of the debt.

Hi sabresong,

Credit Recovery System, Inc is a Collection Agency in Houston. Perhaps they are trying to contact you to collect some debts that you owe. However, they are bound to inform you that they are responsible for the collection of the said debt and they should produce written validation in support of their demand. If they cannot, you need not pay a single penny.

According to fair debt collection practices act, collection agencies cannot contact your friend, except to inquire about your contact details. But they can contact your co-signer any time.

If you find them violating fdcpa rules you can file complaints against them with BBB, DA's Office or FTC also.

What you can do now, ask your friend to refer you if they call him in future. You can make some arrangements to repay the debts if their demand is legitimate. You can always ask for a debt validation and they should send you all the details of the said debt in writing.

Try a search with BBB to know more about Credit Recovery System, Inc.

For any more help, please ask your queries in the forums.

Regards,
Bryan

I received a phone call yesterday from Certified Recovery Systems on my mom and the womans name was Jeanne Johnson and she stated that mom had a complaint filed against her and gave me the file number (account number) and stated that if she didn't hear from her by 5pm she would be arrested. Mom stated that it was from a payday loan that was paid in full in February of this year, she has sent receipts showing proof of payment and copies of the return receipts signed and CRS says that's not suffient proof. How much more proof can a person send to them?

Mom of twins

Proof of the payments along with copies of return receipt is sufficient to prove the payments made to CRS. Even if they file a case against you, you will be able to say your side of the story. Does your mom have the copy of her credit report after the account was posted as paid in full?

My friend has been trying to contact them for 2 days to work out payment on a $498 debt. She has paid more than half of it and wanted something from them saying they received payment....she has called 6 times and been hung up on EVERYTIME. the last call I got on the phone with her and the lady was so rude I was in shock! If nothing else, they are being reported to the BBB for being bad to do business with. Even when you TRY to pay them, they treat you like a piece of garbage!

Carrie,

Tell your friend to keep the payment receipts in a safe place. She might need these receipts to show it as a proof. Write a letter to the company and ask them to send an itemized statement before she agrees to pay anything further. She needs to get sure that the money has actually gone to her debt account.

I tried to pay a bill with CRS and they were very rude. The lady screamed at me and called me irresponsible and said that I got myself into this and that I should pay bills on time. I asked for a manager and was hung up on. When I got through again, I was told they didn't have to be nice to people they were a collection agency. I was trying to pay the bill off that day in full. It is now unpaid and will remain that way.

I am so sorry to hear your story Rebekah. Do you have any document that they received the fund? If yes, you can take legal steps. One more thing I would like to share with you, never pay without having debt validation. You have all the right to ask for some written document before you pay.

And Leanne, I am sorry, I don't have their Fax number. You might try to send them a letter.

Hi I received a phone call from a Samantha from Certified Recovery Systems in Texas, she was very rude in trying to settle up and make terms with me. She stated i needed to get an attorney or pay in full in two days. I have never received a phone call from these people before today 8/4/06. The debt was from a payday loan company. I was trying to make payment arrangements with her, but she continually said I was trying to avoid the debt. I even told her what I could afford to pay but she continually said I needed to get a lawyer.

They have been calling me as well. They have called friends right after talking to us. They also are threating me to get a lawyer. They want what was originally a 300 payday loan to now pay 600. they would not take payment or make arragements. After I told them I couldnt pay it they called a couple weeks later with a deal we came to an agreement and now today (Before agreed date) they are leaving nasty messages for us to call them. I almost dont even want to pay at all. (But I dont want to go to court like they are threating to do)

Thanks, yes it was an online lender. I borrowed 300 paid 90 a week for like 12 weeks then they started taking large amounts out of my account I should say trying to take the full 300 plus 90 for fees. that overdrew my account to the point I had to put a stop payment agianst them because thye kept doing it even though I told them I didnt have it. So now they want 600 something. And CRS is harrassing us for it. They were saying things like "Do you refuse the right to a lawyer?" I would reply with I am not refusing the right I just do not have one at this time. They wanted the name and number to my lawyer right then or else they took it as a refusal to have a lawyer. I guess they are just trying to scare me into paying it. Thanks for your help Sue!

I have attempted calling to settle a debt from a payday company with CRSI. When I call and speak to someone stating my purpose of calling, they are very friendly and nice up until I ask for a mailing address to send my payment. Then I get told I do NOT have the "luxury" of mailing my money in. They quickly try to get banking or credit card info, which I say I do not have. I have been stupid enough in the past to give banking info to these rude collection agencies only to have them charge several different amounts to my bank account and leave me very overdrawn with more "fees" that have to be repaid to the bank because of the collection agency.

I had problems with this company too, during my bankruptcy process. They tried to get $750 from me on an account. They were like it might not be discharged through bankruptcy. They also stated that they NEVER received notice of my filing. I was like your company should have gotten a letter and also you can retrieve the information about my bankruptcy online. I told them that I would take my chances. They said that they were going to take me to court over the account. Needless to say it got discharged through bankruptcy. I have the way CA take advantage of people with threats and such. I love this site! You can learn so much about debt issues.

This does not seem like a reputable company at all. They contacted me a few weeks ago regarding one of the two payday lenders that I am fighting against. They left me a voice mail but didn't state the name of the company. I researched the phone number to find out who they were and sent them a debt validation request via certified mail. I have never gotten my green signature card back yet nor have I heard from them since. I'm sure they will creep back one of these days. :x

I also dealt with CRS and they were rude. I guess i was lucky though as I paid off the loan with Western Union and also happened to deal with Jeanne Johnson, who was rude. But this has been noted as paid in full on my credit report (I made sure to have it noted that way in my report)and i haven't heard from them since!

For those who have been unable to contact or deal with CRS, there is a Company named Cornerstone Support Inc who provides support to CRS by helping the agency stay up to date and compliant with every state. I have sent them a Cease and Desist to CRS c/o Cornerstone Support Inc and have let them know I will hold them equally legally responsible for any further harassment from CRS.

I have attached a link to their site below. It gives their contact information and all the companies they represent.

I hope this helps!

Sue-what do you mean if it was on online lender they will not take a person to court. I just got off the phone with the rudest person in my life. Not that I don't want to pay my bills, this is one I simply forgot about and they never bothered to contact me for three years and when they finally do they want all $490 in 48 hours. I tried making arangements with them and when they finally agreed to that, it wasn't even an amount I could handle. It was an amount convenient for them. I am a single mom working paycheck to paycheck. I see the item listed on my credit report. Should I contact the online lender directly and cut out the middle man?

I've just checked my credit report and it has some Certified Recovery Systems debt collection of $480/$600. They are both originally opened at some CASH Advance/Unitied cash loan places...never have I stepped into a place to loan out money. Now, its on my credit report as a negative item. I've read all the messages about Certified Recovery Systems and the one listed on my report has an address of :6161 Savory Dr, Suite 600, Houston, TX 77036...no number listed either by 411 operator nor credit report. I need to find out how to reclaim my credit rating back to good.Where should I turn call too?
