In an effort to pay off a payday loan, I decided to send the company what I could when I could. They told me that they would send this payments back to me if I did that. How is something like that handled if they return my payments?

NO...they will not return it...I am dealing with one that has taken a check from my debt counselor and still is trying to get more money from me! However I am only working through my counselor and not them. Like he says they will eventually accept the terms.
But keep us posted on what they do...

I have never heard of them sending back money either. I have a friend who is working with T&C and was told that the checks RARELY get sent back and when they do, they will contact them to ask why the checks were returned. But, my friend told me that she was told that as long as they receive something, they will most likely accept it. They won't like it, but they will take it because they are greedy!

I am working with T&C and I had two different storefront companies send back checks to them. They wanted a bigger amount for payments and I believe if they cashed the first round of checks they may have agreed to the lower payment amount. It's possible for pdl companies to send checks back. If it does come back keep copies of everything just in case they would sue you in court. At least you have proof to the judge you are trying to repay them back.

Thanks Ryan. I will let my friend know that there is a possibility of the checks being returned. I know that T&C did warn her of the possibility, but they said that it doesn't happen too often. That is a good idea to keep copies in the even that they try to take her to court. Hopefully they will cash the mess out of them because she is anxious to get them paid off. She has only sent in two payments to T&C, so I guess she needs to wait and let things get really rolling. All of her stuff is storefront. So far one of the local companies has cashed their payment. The others are more "chain" or national pdls, so they may be a little more difficult to deal with. Ryan, did you happen to deal with Quick Cash or Checkmax? They are the ones she is worried about.

I did have one with Quick Cash and here is my little story about them. I told the manager I was doing T&C and for her to call them. The manager of QC called me back and said I will accept their propsal. Well, I figured the manager signed the T&C propsal but she never did and over time it went to QC inhouse collections. They (QC inhouse) were real easy to work with and very understanding. So, if the store manager tells you anything, make sure they fax you over a letter saying the accept it. QC is allowing me to pay 25 bucks a month on repayment to them.
