Looking For Where To Start...

I just stumbled across this community, and thought I would give it a go. I'm 22, almost 23 years old. When I turned 21, I had great credit. I had one credit card that I was never late one, and I had a car payment I was never late on. That went on for a year or so, and then I bought a motorcycle. I had the bike for a year, and never missed a payment. Then there was an accident. I was making a U-Turn at a light, and a guy making a left at the opposing side of traffic ran a red light, and almost hit me. I accelerated to avoid him, and it sent me into a curb, which sent me into a pole. I snapped my right femur, and my left forearm. The guy never stopped. The police wrote it up as my fault, and gave me a ticket... While I was laying on the ground dying.
Anyways, needless to say, I was in a tight spot, and more than screwed. The injuries I sustained, I was told wouldn't heal for a year. I applied for disability, and they were giving me $133 a week!! So, I wasn't able to pay any of my bills. Car, and bike were repo'd, and my credit card was going to be sent to a creditor, but I called the bank, and made arrangements. So, it's a closed account, but it didn't make it to a collections agency. I acquired medical insurance through the hospital that completely paid off all the surgery, medicine, and PT/OT I had!
Before I got it, I was thinking I was going to be filing bankruptcy. So, now... I'm in a tight spot still, but have the ability to do something about it. My motorcycle, I found out, was split between two banks. So, it shows as 2 repos for the bike, and one for my car... So, I have 3 repos! I am exactly $20,000 in debt. Where should I go from here? I don't even know where to begin. Any help is very appreciated!

Welcome, brandon! We're glad you "stumbled" upon us! With having approximately $20,000 in debt and 3 repo's showing (and I'm so sorry about that!), why don't you try giving the debtcc phone number a call? You can tell them of your debt and your situation, and they can point you in the right direction. :D I'm going to give you the phone number to call. It is 1-800-601-1579. Give them a call and see what kind of help they can offer you! Never hurts to make a phone call! Also, other members of this community will see your post and be along to give you some advice, okay? So, hang in there, Brandon! Give the debtcc number a call and keep checking on here for responses from members who might be able to give you advice also!

Definitely follow cannr's advice and try the free consultation as you will get professional help from a knowledgeable person/s. I am also sorry to hear about your situation and am hoping that you're healing not only physically but emotionally as well, accidents are never easy to deal with. Also...I'm wondering if there are any community based organizations that could help you? I'm thinking of maybe a legal organization that helps people for free (free consultations)> we have something like that here in our county and their services include a free legal consultation. couldn't hurt if you have an agency like that near you. You can always check with most human services agencies and they may be able to point you in the right direction. you may even want to check with somewhere like the salvation army. that may sound crazy but I guarantee you that they are very knowledgeable about your county resources. maybe give that a try as well but I would start with this site's consultation and please let us know how you're doing. welcome, good to see you found this site :)

I tried calling the number, and I get a message after it rings a few time that Ext. 8007 is unavailable, or something like that. I left a message, and I hope to hear back from someone soon. This services seems like it's helping a lot of people, and now that I'm getting back on my feet after all that's happened, I'm ready to get my life, and my credit back on track. Thanks a million, and have a wonderful day!
