I was recently contacted by allied interstate claming that I owe 771.00 to AT&T. I did pay the amount I KNOW I owe them. However, the majority of the debt happened when someone who was working for AT&T didnt know what they were doing and messed up my account, leaving me responsible. I was asked to mail a detailed letter of dispute to Allied to be forwarded on to AT&T on my behalf. I recieved a phone call 2 days later saying that AT&T did not agree to my dispute. I asked for a copy of the response. When I did this the rep began yelling and bullying me. I then called AT&T to see if the letter I faxed to Allied had been forwarded to them, and to my suprise it had NOT!! I called Allied back and told them that AT&T had not reccieved the letter. The rep (wanda)yelled at me "you haveno business calling AT&T." She then tol me I was "obviously not smart enough to understand" I asked to speak to her supervisor, and I was told she did not take phone calls.
My question is...how do they do this and get away with it? Is it ok for them to lie about making contact with AT&T? What do I do now?

Hi

It's sad that you also have to go through such harassments just like many others are going through.

Allied interstate has no good feedback from the consumers and if you browse through this forum, you will understand their illicit nature of business. They do not practice business within the legal lines and if you try to contact them, they just hung up.

I will always do my correspondence written through certified mail with return receipt requested so that I have a valid proof. Also, I know that they are professionals who just don't want to listen to us and do nothing but to threaten us.

I also faced other sorts of situations with my creditors and considered taking some expert advice from the consultant. I don't need to worry as my consultant handles the rest of the situation.

Also, I made it a point to file my complaints to the FTC, BBB and the consumer protection office so that my grievances are heard.

If you wish to take the help of the consultant, you can sign up in this website and the consultant will call you up to offer a free counseling.
