2 Collection Agencies Didnt Respond to My Validation Letter
Date: Sun, 11/25/2007 - 17:07
I sent two validations out USPS Certified Mail on October 22nd. Both signed for them within a couple of days.
The 30 day mark has passed, so what's my next stop? One was to Co-operative Adjustment Bureau, Inc. and one was sent to ProCollect. I haven't received any sort of acknowledgment's or anything in the mail. The one I sent to ProCollect was a little different, because I was told over the phone in January 2006 of what I owed for this specific debt but I never received anything in writing. I started making payments on it, but I had automatic withdrawal setup and the account they were taking the funds out of was closed. I stopped paying on it in February 2007 and according to my report, I still owe them 675 bucks. I don't know where any of this came from though.
Co-operative Adjustment sent me a letter saying I owed back rent on an apartment I moved out of in January 2007. As far as I knew, everything was paid. So I sent them a validation letter, which they even mentioned in their initial letter to me that I was able to do that.
I'm at a loss, what can I do?

They don't have a timeline to answer, unless your state law says
They don't have a timeline to answer, unless your state law says otherwise. They can choose not to answer at all, as long as all collection atempts cease.
For a start, by law they had five days to send you something in the mail after first contacting you.
