I judgement was obtained against me from an old providian cared I had. It was obtain 10/00 and of course as of this year it was deleted of all three of my credit reports. I just pulled my transunion report and noticed that an inquiry was made by them this month.
What can happened now?

was it a judgemen or a mediation award? I am getting letters from these people about mediation, but they are sending the letters to an old address on purpose. Are they trying to get a judgement now? The debt they are trying to collect from me is bogus, check and see when the account went delinquent and the SOL in your state!
if its been 7 years, I don't think they can do anything!

It was a judgement that they had gotten against me back in 10/00 but it has been 7 yrs now. They must have pulled my credit I guess to check on me because there was an inquiry from them as of this month. I live in PA. It was a credit card from Providian.

I feel for you
S&A/Credigy is not known for making thing easy. They tend to collect on debts that were alrady paid and the people you will talk to on the phone are not nice people.
I know. I used to be one.
1. Do EVERYTHING via mail. Certified.
2. Be ready to file legal action. They are lawyers but hav been in recent legal trouble. This is things you can fin out publically.
3. Dispute EVRYTHING with them. Demand proof. Be prepared for them to not be able to provide it. They had a very poor system of records keeping.
You said you had a JUDGEMENT. Then I am REAL sorry for you. These are exceptionally hard to get rid of. First they probably filed against you and got a default judgement as you did not go to court. BAD BAD BAD. If there is REALLY a judgement you need to go to the court where it is filed and look it up. How much we talking about. S&A likes to say they'll only do a 10% mark-off. That is a complete lie. They'll go lower but it is a ral fight to get it.
If things get ugly your going ot need a lawyer to get rid of this. You picked a bad firm to be fighting with.

First, a judgment does not drop off your credit file by law after 7 years. The law allows a judgment to remain on your credit file for up to 10 years.
As for them pulling your report, if you still havent paid the judgment they have the right to pull your credit report. It is known as a permissable purpose. There really isnt anything you can do to stop that, as long as they arent pulling it more often than the law allows.
The time limit to collect on a judgment is different from state to state.

You may wish to file a report, I strongly suggest it.

on my experian CR, on page 4 it has lists two names, one has my 1st and last name, and the other has my full name, and under both it has a name ID# consisting of four and five digits. the officer asked if those ID#s matched anything i have, like my ssn or the 8 digit# on my state ID, and i said no.the officer then told me he couldn't make a report on identity theft b/c the person was using different info.and they couldn't tell who it was.
