a collection agency that has taken over an account from a credit card will not work with me in any way. I owe them $4300. They have demanded at least 10 percent down and then $300 a month after that. I have offered to pay about $100 a month because that is all I can afford to work things out with other creditors. When I spoke with the original creditor, they said that once it went out to a collection agency they couldn't do anything. Who should i try to work with in this situation?

I would talk to the free counselor here and then consider a debt consolidation program. I suspect the CA would be more willing to work with an account agent for a debt consolidation program. They think they can bully you into giving in, but know those tactics won't work with a debt consolidation agent.

Good luck and I hope you get the information you need!

Thanks ttthayden for stressing on the importance of debt counseling.

Yes, the creditors and the collection agencies work with debt counselors efficiently. They realize that the consumers are willing to take the responsibility of paying the debt and thus, they offer easy monthly payment options.

You can take some expert advice from this site and overcome the present situation that is worrying you. I hope it will be helpful to you.
