I have been on this forum several times in the last week but have been to ashamed or afraid to reply or maybe admit what to what a mess I am in. I currently have 5 internet pdl's and just keep getting more to cover the interest for the next. I also have 4 store front pdl's which i am in the process of getting payment arrangements for and have successfuly got it arranged for 2 of them. Can someone please tell me what I need to do for the internet pdl's to make payment arrangements or something. I have been a "store pdl'r" for years but just recently did the internet thing. What was I thinking? I honestly do not even know where the pdl's are through and don't even know where to begin figuring out who they really are. It seems that when I got the loans they were different names than what shows up on my account statement at the bank. I am from Wisconsin and believe that our state does not have much protection for consumers regarding internet pdl's. Please help

I'm not sure what it exactly is, like I said earlier I don't even know the names for sure cause I just kept getting emails regarding new "cash opportunities" signed the documents and so on. The names on my documents are different than the name on my "deposits" so I am not sure who they are? When I try calling the customer service numbers I get busy symbols or no answer. Pleeeeeeeeas help me get started getting out of this mess. What I have learned so far seems that the first step should be closing my account? Is this correct? I work in the social service field and am so afraid of losing my job, getting my wages garnished etc. I have been cursed with an illness for 18 months and have no idea where to turn for help. My friends/family have borrowed me what they could for medication and medical expenses and I turned to this horrible trap for help and don't know what to do to get out. Please help with any suggestions or guidance.

Ok Tam, I am from WI also I have been there and still trying to get myself out. Now when you say you answered e-mails, do you still have those e-mails? Because in WI e-mail is the same as a phone call, letter, etc. WI considers e-mail another from of solicitation for business, there for they need to be licensed to lend in WI. Which I can tell you they probably are not.

First you need to close you checking account and open one at a different bank. Make sure that the account cannot be forced open by an ach going through after it's been closed. Then try and get copies of your bank statements from the time they deposited the money until you close it. Just so you have proof of how much they deposited and how much they have taken out. Then get all of your paperwork together with your bank statements. Save any e-mails that you get from these places while you are working on this, you will need them. Then when you have all of this info together contact the DFI. Here is some contact info (this lady knows her stuff and I have been working with her for almost a year now on different things, from payday loans to CA's I am having problems with) Kathleen Hanna, Compliance Officer
Department of Financial Institutions
Office of Consumer Affairs
P.O. Box 8041
Madison, WI 53708-8041
608-264-7969
608-264-7968 fax
kathleen.hanna(at)dfi.state.wi.us

If you want you can tell her that Danielle told you to call her (she knows who I am when people tell her). She can help you with the names and address of these places so you can send letters to them. Plus she will also send her own letters to them from the state. Also after you are working with hre, if you get any more of those e-mails offering you a payday loan you need to forward those e-mail to her so she can send letters to those companies. I have and now I do not get anymore, I think they got the hint that I am not going to put up with them any more.

Also I have been telling everybody from WI to contact the WI DOJ, Write a letter telling your story and how payday loans, storefront and internet have affected your finances and your life. And that WI should begin to follow other states on their payday loan laws. Because right now WI is not protecting the consumers. I have been told to do this and the more letters they get about this subject the more it will raise the flag that the WI taxpayers are getting shafted and we are not going to take it anymore. But understand that the people who we elected into office are going to put up a fight about this because they have made money under the table to keep the laws like they are (the big guy from madison told me this) So if we put up a fight for the laws to be changed they just may listen, but me just talking as one cannot do it alone, I need more voices to help me out.

Sorry for going on so long. But if you register with this site It will help you move around the boards easier and then you will be able to private message people questions or other stuff. And you will be able to find your posts easier. Plus it's free.

tam also needs to do a letter revoking any wage assignments signed quickly. I see one of her pdls is Cash Transfer Center. CTC is wage assignment happy lately. They will more than likely send one to her employer. tam, you need to type up a quick letter stating: "I (state your name), revoke any and all wage assignments I have signed with your company, your partners, and any affiliates." Type your name. Email it/fax it/mail it certified to CTC. You need to do this now before they have the opportunity to send one to your employer. Keep a copy and give a copy to your HR/payroll department. Wage assignments are not wage "garnishments". Wage assignments are totally voluntary and can be revoked. However, the problem lies with the employer most of the time. They are unaware that these are voluntary and can be refused. Especially CTC wage assignments. They are not even "valid" wage assignments. CTC is highly illegal. You may want to tell your employer that an illegal overseas company is attempting to get money from you (you don't have to go into detail) and that you are just trying to cover your butt. That way you can give them the copy of the letter revoking wage assignment and be covered.

I got in mega trouble with PDLs and in the process of getting them paid off (slowly but surely). Turns out one of them was quite litigious and took the matter to court. I now have a judgment against me and am about to have my wages garnished. Anybody know what percentage they can take from my paycheck? I'm in Wisconsin.

Thanks for all your help!
Cheryl
