My wife found this on a blog and copied it and emailed it to me. I thought I would share it!

Quote:
Angel in the Post Office

Thisis one of the kindest things I've ever experienced. I have no way toknow who sent it, but there is a kind soul working in the dead letteroffice of the US postal service.

Our 14 yearold dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year olddaughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missedAbbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbeygot to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought wecould so she dictated these words:

Dear God,

Willyou please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you inheaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as mydog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She likesto play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so whenyou see her you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.

Love, Meredith

Weput the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith andaddressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. ThenMeredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because shesaid it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way toheaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the postoffice. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. Itold her that I thought He had. Yesterday, there was a package wrappedin gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in anunfamiliar hand.

Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr.Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies.' Taped to the inside front cover wasthe letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On theopposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith,

Abbeyarrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help. Irecognized Abbey right away. Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit ishere with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being yourdog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pocketsto keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this littlebook for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by. Thank youfor the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write itand sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked herespecially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that Ilove you very much. By the way, I am wherever there is love.

Love, God

I'm gonna have to copy that and send it around here at work. I know I'll be a mess when my kitty dies. He's about 9 years old already, and has health problems. He was abandonded as a very small kitty, too early, and we saved his life. But, now he gets kitty asthma and this time of year is rough for him. That story was awesome.
