Hello, I am being sued for a $9,000.00 veterinary bill. I received a paper in the mail that looks like the lawyer is asking for a judgement. Can you help me negotiate payment arrangements before they try to garnish my wages? I talked to someone in October and they said the would work on payment arragements but they did not call me back.

I believe the original debt was $7,000.00. No I don't have an attorney. I can't afford one. If I have a judgement then I can deal with that but I just want to avoid wage garnishment.

Have you made any payments towards this at all? I am really concerned that you don't have an attorney, because I think that there's a chance they might walk all over you otherwise. Can you go through Legal Aid?

Yeah, if I'm a plaintiff's attorney (and I do have to think about what I would do if I were one for a living), I wouldn't extend courtesy, because I know you have no teeth. I would walz in, motion for enforcement, and walk out.

The sad thing is that you could walk away if you weren't served with S&C and given the opportunity to answer.
