Does anyone else dread checking their bank account balances?
Date: Tue, 12/04/2007 - 12:28
Every morning after I get up, I go online to check my bank account balances. I always have this feeling of dread when doing so, due to these PDL companies and their scuzzy tactics. It's such a terrible feeling to have. I fear one morning I am going to wake up and see my account hundreds of dollars in the negative!
Does anyone else feel this way? Just wondering! 8)

I check mine several times a day plus sometimes i wake up in the night and the first thing i do is check it. It is a nightmare. I hope one day i won't have to live like this anymore.

It should go away . . . . Really . . . . I only check my accounts when I want to know the balance, and I never think about a pdl finding it and taking money out. The odds of it happening are really low . . . . Seriously, you probably have a better chance of being hit by a car then a pdl finding your new account and taking money.

Thanks to my conversation with the bank this week, I have not checked my account in two days. My old account is closed and has been for 20 days now and in the past 3 months...no problems. As for my new account I am not worried about the pdls finding it anymore. I have worried so much for the last year I just do not have it in me to worry about that. Now I worry about whether or not they will take my check at the store

I still just receive a paper check for my pay now and I only put enough into my bank account to pay whatever it is that I need to that day. I still worry about someone getting my bank account info, even though I really know that it is not likely, I just do not want to find out the hard way. I literally put all my cash in a can in my closet now...

It has been working for me. I know where my money is at everyday. My landlord prefers cash payment anyhow so that is really the only big bill that I pay every month and the only other bill I have is a cell phone so I just go to the Verizon Store and pay through the automated machine with cash. I can see how it would be much tougher for people that have multiple payments to make very month. I have also noticed that I spend my money much wiser now, since I can only spend whatever is in my pocket:)

That is a great way to be more budget conscious. My employer will not issue a paper check everything must be direct deposit. I am fortunate that I live in a small town and have known the tellers for several years. Anytime something happens with my account I am notified....I think in some ways that is why I feel "safe".

CRAP! This is why I check it every morning! I have learned "why check it during the day? nothing posts until the next day". So I check it in the mornings. I don't like surprises like you got! Plus the fact that if something does show up, you can get to the bank immediately and get it straightend out. I guess I'll be paranoid until I'm 90!

I'm with you Cannr...I still check twice a day...when I wake (and after I have gotten my coffee) and when I get home from work. I know it's safe and I listen to Goudah but I always wonder....what if???

I was over the paranoia of checking my account and then today I was over 500 in the red. Thank God it was because I punched the ATM wrong by 8 cents and they put a temporary hold on my deposit. You can imagine the feeling when I first saw those red numbers and not expecting it!

I don't think I'll ever be able to check my account again without hyperventalating and breaking out into hives.
