How valid is a Demand Promissary Note?

Is it possible for someone to collect on a verbal agreement of payment? I have an ex-boyfriend who is coming after me for the remaining balance of a debt that we created while together. I was the only one who made payments on the account until 2005 (debt was created in 2002) but have since stopped. He paid the remaining balance of the debt and now wants me to pay him back. He sent me a Demand Promissary Note which he signed and stated payments were to start Dec 1, made payable to him. I never signed the Demand Promissary Note, it seems as if he created it himself and simply signed it. In the letter that was not notarized, it stated that if payment was not recieved by Dec 1, he would have an attorney come after me for payment. How valid is this demand of payment?
No agreement is valid without both parties signature. He is blow
No agreement is valid without both parties signature. He is blowing smoke. I could send anyone a letter saying they owed me money but it is meaningless without proof. If you created the debt together and you payed your share and he payed his, it is done. All you are left with is a he said, she said situation. Without a witness it is nothing.
Exactly...both parties need to sign. Tell him to take you to
Exactly...both parties need to sign.
Tell him to take you to Judge Judy and prove it....he wont even get anyplace in her courtroom let alone a "real" one.
