I have been reading this forum for months and I am finally writing to see if someone can advise me with what I need to do. To make a long story short, I have 3 credit cards that are in my name only that I have never used they were just balance transfers. I have been paying and paying and paying on them and have been late several times and up the interest went. They were realatively low balances 3000.00 and now they have skyrocketed to 9000.00 on a Bank of America, 4200.00 on a Citi Card and a little over 4000.00 on a Chase bank. Citi Card sold my account to Weinberg, Reis (sp) and I have sent them a validation letter and I haven't heard anything back from them yet. I desperately want out from under this because it haunts me night and day and I can't sleep. I have tried dealing with them myself but I am going nowhere but backwards. I want to pay them off, but the amount I am having to pay leaves me with little left over. Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Community :D Ang is right, why not take advantage of the free credit counseling offered here-they can point you in the right direction.

As far as dealing with Weltman,Weinberg, and Reis--forget about proper validation--they are also associated with LVNV who almost never fully validates-but keep sending them things, make copies, send it certified, return receipt mail. Also, it is important to keep notes of any and all conversations-they like to make promiss they won't make!

Good luck--feel free to ask questions..

Have you tried some of the methodical approach?

List all your debts, by selecting accounts with highest interest first. Such that the list is in a descending order.

Determine amount of money you can keep aside for payment.

Each month, apply the minimum payments plus the extra money to first debt.

On all other debts pay only the minimum payment.

Continue until the first debt is paid off.

To minimize burden of interest amount it is recommended to prioritize on highest interest first.

Try calling the credit card companies and ask for lower interest rate.

Good luck.
