Marmike, Welcome to the site. Who is claiming it is not paid..a medical office or Tri-Care, Does a collection agency have this bill? IF it was paid by insurance, do you have the paperwork showing they paid it. IF you do not have it, they should have. Have you tried to contact Tri-Care.

Roxy's right. Call Tri-Care and ask for a copy of the documentation showing this bill was paid. See if they can get a copy of the cancelled check front and back showing the endorsement.
This will take some time to get, so bear with them. Also, if it's still showing up on your report and you've called the provider--another thing you could do as a last resort is file a complaint with your congressperson. I had to do this when I had an emergency miscarriage when my husband was still active-duty Navy and we were being threatened with collections. The bill was paid promptly, along with an apology from CHAMPUS (which was before Tri-Care). Good luck and let us know what happens.

The name on the credit report is Aargon Agency Inc which is a collection agency the original debt was from the hospital itself.
Yesterday is the first I have ever heard of this. The car accident happened in 2003 and Ive thought that everything was good to go. I am going to try to call Tri-care today. This is the very large bulk of my debt, everything else equals out to about $900 for small little stupid things I let go when I was young and dumb.

I would go ahead an send them a letter while you research this. It will stop collection activity and if you have to go the route that KS mentioned, you can use it for documentation showing your attempts to resolve this. Do you have contact information for them and do you need a letter requesting debt validation to use as a template?

Mike, I will send you one I have and have used in the past. I am going to send it to you via private message. If you look at the right top 1/2 of the page you will see the CHAT right under it you should see..You have 1 new message. Click on that and it will open your private messages, click on the message title and it will open the message. You can copy and paste it into whichever word processing program you are using. Remember to send it certified return receipt so you can prove/verify they received it. I also faxed mine. Give me a minute, I am going to copy and paste and send it to you. If you do not get it let me know.

Know the feeling. It is one of those things where you are shocked and want answers but you continually have to wait for someone to find them or get them. I was not sure where to begin. If you run into problems please post them, Most times with all these members, you will get and answer pretty quickly and many times it is usually something you did not think about. I hope everything works out for you.

No, never got any bills at all. While I was talking to the main Tri-care person, she mentioned that none of those things were ever billed to them and that they should have. As I was leaving the hospital they took down my information so that they could bill Tri-care. I had asked them what I had to do about the bill and they said that Me being Active Duty Military, Tricare would take care of it.

Havent called the hospital yet. Wanted to get Tricare's side of it before I did. Cant hurt to go ahead and give them a ring though. Its crazy that this was never posted on my credit until recently though. I got my credit report a year ago and it wasnt on there. This all happened in 2003. Why would it take 4 years to catch up/
Medical Collection
I'm assuming that you are saying that the credit report and a collection agency say you have never paid the debt. In my line of business, I would have my client write a letter to Experian, Trans Union and Equifax and tell them that there is an error on the report and explain the situation. The three major credit bureaus are responsible for reporting credit accurately, they will contact the collection agency and look for validation that the information is correct, if it is not, it is deleted from your report. The bureaus have 30 days to correct your report and send you a new corrected report for review. Any evidence you can send along will expedite the process.

Im in the process of doing that. Experian only has the "dispute" online option and TransUnion you have to mail them a letter disputing it which I am sending today. Equifax has no record of this at all. they show nothing. in the mean time I have been advised to send The collection agency (Aargon Agency Inc) the request validation letter that RoxyNy was kind enuf to provide for me. On my end I am also doing the leg work of contacting Tricare and potentially the Hospital where this all started.

MIke, you are on a roll. Be sure to keep notes and copies of everything so you can send them as supporting documentation to the credit agencies, like Lost said. Keep us posted.

I would definitely contact the hospital, find out who they billed, how much, and when. Even ask for a copy of the invoices. Make sure they have to correct information for tri-care and ask them to re-submit their bills to tri care (even if you aren't currently covered, if you policy was properly paid , they should pay it now).
It almost sound like this Argonne agency is a bottom feeding debt buyer, and they hospital just sold it with out attempting to collect in the first place, no wonder health care costs are getting out of hand.
Updated
I sat down with a representative of TriCare Prime in Quantico and went over everything. She said that this stuff unfortunately happens all the time to Military personnel because collections agencies know that as military, you will always have a paycheck and they can complain to your command element if you dont pay and have your wages garnished.
She called the collector and it turns out that the hospital turned it all over to them 15minutes after I walked out the door. They got all my information and had me sign the papers to have it turned over to TriCare and then just didnt. She said that she should be able to take care of all of this within 1-2 months. Heres hoping!
