I just wanted to know if small loan companies that are not payday loans are subject to cease and desist letters or are they exempt also. We sent 3 cease and desist letters by certified mail to 3 of our small loan companies, and 2 of the 3 keep calling anyway. One of them is getting very hateful and harassing and we have been with them for right around 5 yrs now. We have paid previous loans with them off, and have just got in a bind this time with my son having to go to Childrens hospital for surgery on his bladder. We knowingly can not pay these debts off in a timely manner, and had even put on the letter that we would pay them back as soon as we got the money to. I can't handle the stress of them calling and making me feel bad for not being able to pay them and the medical conditions of my son also. We even put the bill for my son's tests that he took here in with the letter and sent it certified. What the saddest thing is is that most of the ladies that work in the office have kids and are still so rude about everything. Thank you for any advice I might be able to get on this. If I might even need to rewrite the letter due to it not being stated just right I am willing to spend another $15 just to stop the harrasment.

The one company that is harrasing the most is called Covington Credit. They almost always have very harasing people in thier office, if one isn't harrasing enough for them they get rid of that person quick. We have dealt with a few nice people in the office, but most of them don't stay long. The other one that has called but not as bad as Covington is
Alliance finance, but we got a note from them the other day saying that they were going to move on to other forms of collection, which is fine all I wanted was to not have to worry about paying something we can no longer pay due to job hour cuts, not getting paid from one job we helped my stepdad lay the carpet on at all, and taking my son to Childrens hospital. The third one that hasn't called since getting the letter is Toledo and we actually went over there ourselves and thanked her for her respect and understanding and that just as soon as we get it she will be the first to be paid off. We are not planning on sticking these companies with something that we owe we just can't make the payments at this time. We have been with most of these companies for around 5 years now and paid every single loan we have had off, it's not like we just decided to not pay this time. We even wrote that in the letter just as soon as we get it we will pay it off. We had held back on 2 others we planned on keeping them open as to not completely ruin our credit as much as it already is.
Thank you for the advice as apparantly the advice we had recieved was wrong and as sad as it seems it came from one of the old managers at Covington Credit.
