Thank you for the informatin. I have searched and read all I could find about the company. They are handling a Chase account that has just recently been charged off. They say I must pay the entire ammount ($3105) in two calendar months or it will go to court. That mean it must be paid by Jan.25. I told them the most I could pay right now is $220. They are taking that, but insist that $2880 must be paid by Jan. 25 or else. I told them I would probably have an income tax refund by Feb. 15 if they could wait that long. They said to call them back on Jan. 15 if the money would not be there by the 25th. There is no way the income tax refund will be there by then. I will be lucky to have W2's by then. Do you think they will really take it to court (and exactly what does that entail) if the balance is not paid by the 25th of Jan. I have every intention of paying it as soon as the refund gets here. Are they attorneys or just collectors. Anyone with experience or information?
They are simply a collection agency. They would have to give up
They are simply a collection agency. They would have to give up the account and any hope of your payment in February to an attorneys office.

Unfortunatly i have been in ur position. Chase is a large bank along with bank of america and citibank. they do have guidelines for arbitration(legal) on accts over a certain dollar amount and they do sue whether you have assets or not. I have been sued by one about 7 years ago and make monthly payments thru the courts now and the bad thing is that now i have a judgement on my credit report for 10 years...only 3 more to go but then they can re new the judgement for another 7-10 yrs depending on the state you live in. Something to think about

They work for Chase Bank.
credit debts -settle if you can
YOu should never pay off debt in total. All these collectors are settling. If your debt has been charged off, these collectors bought this debt for 10 cents on the dollar. If you have any cash or access to cash, offer less that what you have as a payment in full and they may take it. Ask for a settlement over time and they may take that. If they are convinced that you do not want to file but will if you have to, BUT you are willing to pay x-amount as a full settlement, they may go for it. Be courteous but firm. Do not piss them off. Any money they get is gravy so they want something. They know the odds of a debt going unpaid for 6 months is probably not going to get paid. This is a business transaction. Handle it that way. Do not offer to pay the whole amount if you can't. How do i know this? We offer $6K settlement over six months for a $22K debt with Chase. That is one of our 7 cards. 5 out of 7 have settled for anywhere from10% to 25% on the dollar. Still dickering with two final large cards but I am sure we will get some agreement. I don't know if in the end, we will be glad we didn't just file and call it a day but at least we have avoided it so far. Our credit is poop now so who knows??? Do not ignore any legal action against you. A lot of settlements are handled right before you walk into the court room. Show up with your check book and settle for pennies on the dollar!! Good luck!
