Hello my names Mohammed, I took out a loan of $300 and was paying web pay day back. They first called me last Tuesday and told me that if I don't pay them $160 I would have to go to court. I told them my current financial problems. I have no job right now, and my bank account was charged off for a long time of negative balance. I told them I want to pay them back asap, but I need to find a job first. They told me not possible, and that they need to post-date a check by Friday, or I go to court. They gave me threats of how I would have to pay thousands of dollars in legal cost and that their own legal fee's would have to be paid by me. I told them I need time to get a job and then they just hung up on me. Two days ago they called me and told me that I bounced a check over state lines for $160. They said I authorized a payment of $160 from my bank account. I told them again I have no accounts open, and they told me I need to get a attorney to represent myself. Today they called me I didn't pick up.

they have said they are calling me on behalf of web pay day and my balance with them. I have no job and they won't settle for small payments every month. By small I mean around $30 dollars a month, I am a college student. They are mean people all they want is the full $160. They told me to call people I know and ask for money, are they allowed to say such things?

I am also from NY.If you have already paid the principle back, then that is all you nee to pay them. Please file complaints with the bbb and the Ag . Please do nit stress over this and certainly do not pay them another dime. You have already filled your obligation according to NY law.

zman - hang on. kash is WAY correct. You are letting these guys scare you. I had WebPayDay. First of all, pdls are prohibited in your state, as pointed out. Second, you have already paid this loan. You do not need to give them any more money. Third, apparently they have already turned you over to an outside agency to try to collect. You do not owe any more money. Here's what you need to do. You need to first of all get a debt validation letter out to this collection agency. They won't be able to validate. I had my WebPayDay turned over to collections - who in turn reported me to the credit bureaus - and I had OVERPAID these idiots and they actually REFUNDED me! So watch them carefully. Get your debt validation letter to the collection agency. Put it in writing. Also, you need to file immediately with the BBB, the FTC, and your state AG regarding WebPayDay. I did get mine resolved through the BBB alone. I got WebPayDay to refund every penny over the principle amount that I paid and also to mark it as paid and close it out. I got all this in writing. HOWEVER, I was then contacted by a collection agency collecting on behalf of WebPayDay - which I ripped a new one - sent them all documentation showing it was paid/refunded/closed. HOWEVER, the collection agency had reported me to the credit bureaus. Had to dispute the living hell out of that, but got it deleted off my reports. So - in a nutshell, do not pay them another dime. File all your complaints NOW. Send a debt validation letter to the collection agency. Watch your credit report closely. You will probably get a refund from WebPayDay. You have overpaid. Do NOT pay them any more money. Sorry this is so long, but it's a story with me. Post if you have any questions.

I have been dealing with web pay day myself. I had not taken any or there calls up until yesterday when I was told that my loan of 650.00 has now went up to over 1300.00 and it is about to go into collections. They are willing to work with me for 852.00. The person I spoke with stated that if it went into collections I would have to pay the full
amount including attorney fees. I was told that I would be expecting a call back on today 062608 to see if they will accept the 852.00 broken up in three installments, I haven't heard from them today and usually they call all day everyday. I reside in Alabama.

What is the name of the company on the letter Rico? Does it state anywhere on the letter something to this effect?

This is an attempt to collect a debt from a debt collector, you have 30 days to dispute it and request validation.

Let me know, because if it does say any of the above then what you need to do is send them a debt validation letter within 30 days, it's VERY important that you respond to this company within the 30 day period!
