NSF fees on closed bank account

I tried to close my bank account a month ago, but they wouldn't close it completely so now I have a bunch of nsf fees since autopayments have been bouncing my account. Do I really owe these?

Go to the bank and speak directly with the branch manager and explain everything in a non accusitory way. In most cases they are willing to help. Do not call the customer service 800 number.

Many accounts have a 10-day hold from the time you asked for it to be closed, to the time it is closed. During the 10-days, you are responsible for any debits unless you placed a hard debit block.
