Suntrust screwed up! My husbands truck is under my father in laws name and it is financed by Suntrust Bank, we have a special program where you can't be 21 days late because they will start repo process. On October 10th I received a letter from Suntrust stating that it was time for us to skip our next payment which was due November 5th but I had to send a $15 check or money order, so On October 12th I mailed them a money order which they cashed on October 17th. So on November 27th something told me to call the bank to make sure that everything was ok in the account.Guess what!! they are saying they never recieved the money order so the lady who I dealt with in the rewrite dept which is where this loan is handled puts me on hold for an hour and the money order is nowhere to be found (but it was cashed. She told me that she suggests that I make the November payment and when I trace the money order and get a copy to send it to them and they will let me skip my next payment, so I told her well since I thought that I did not have a payment in November due to this promotion they sent me I can not make the payment till a week and a half from now so she noted the account and assured me that I will be ok that I was not going to have any problems because I contacted them. I went on saturday Dec 8th and made my payment which was exactly 11 days after our conversation and guess what! Last night they repo the truck. I am so so depressed and just wanted to post this to get some support from all of you and to see if anyone knew how I can trace this money order like right now instead of having to wait 30 days to get the copy. The funny thing is that my husband is on a business trip in New Orleans and my father in law does not know anything. I am really pulling my hair!!

Wow Kate i've never heard of a vehicle being repo'ed after being late such a short time! Did they actually pick the truck up?? Have u told hubby yet?
Where does the money order come from? This is the exact reason i will ONLY use money orders from the post office. They're SO easy to trace!
SOrry about all the questions but i am trying to figure it all out. Also, did u call the lady u spoke to in Nov?? (11 days earlier?)
:(

The thing is that it is a re-write loan and you can't be late for more then 21 days. But in my case it was different I contacted them and told them I was making a payment in a week and a half and they cashed the money order and never posted it in my account . They picked up the truck yesterday at one in the morning, no i have not told my husband yet he is out of town and he will go nuts if i tell him. The money order is from Western Union. I am on the phone now calling the bank to see what they have to say.

I called and got treated me like shit they told me I had to call a different number and that I was not even authorized to speak in the account. I can't believe this shit but i was authorized till the other day to speak to them. I know they cashed that money order and when i get my copy that they did i will find an attorney and sue their ass, cause it was all their fault.

Kate, I am really sorry this is happening to you. It really does stink when they are wrong and you pay dearly. I had a similar situation with Wells Fargo and was so happy when we got rid of them. I hate being at the mercy of any company or bank and that seems like things are getting more and more that way.

Was able to speak to the gentlemen handling the account and explained everything to him I told him that Suntrust cashed my $15 money order to skip my November payment and that I spoke on Nov 27th to Christi in the rewrite department and that she told me to make my Nov payment till I got the copies of the cashed money order and that I told her that I was going to make my payment in a week and a half and she told me it was ok that she was going to note my account and I was going to have no problem and I made a payment on the 8th of December, he says that with this program even if you are one day past due they can repo the car. So he was going to speak to the Supervisor and explain all this misunderstanding and see what he could due and he was going to call me back. Please pray for me that they give me the car back without my father in law finding out.

no western union is different they told me that they could see the date it was cashed but they don't see who cashed it, that i have to send a $3 check and fill out the back and mail it and it will take about 30 days. I wish I could find a faster way to do this. I did not sleep all night and I have big time tachycardia so upset.

thanks volley and all of you ! i really hope they will give me that truck back before my husband gets home tonight and i hope that my father in law does not find out either. I can't believe this i have done everything to always keep current with them and all of a sudden this happens. It was all their fault for not applying my $15 payment. They have to have someway where they can see where they posted this payment. This is just beyond ridiculus.

Now I am in an even bigger problem, the gentlemen from the bank called me and said that I need to fax him a copy of my father in law drivers license proof of insurance and an affidavit explaining that he authorizes us to speak for him in the account. He told me that he is trying his best for us to get the truck back without paying a lot i am going to have to pay the repo place and also that he is not sure if the vehicle can be returned to us because me and my husband are the ones with the possession of the vehicle and it's under my father in laws name and when a vehicle is financed the owner has to be the one with the vehicle. I don't know what else to do i am freaking out.

Hi Everyone! I feel much better today, well i told my father in law and he did not care at all he said stop crying the banks are always jerks and you did mothing wrong I don't want you to be upset and have a nervous breakdom all that is material stuff, as long as we have health forget about everything. My husband was not upset either because I showed them all paperwork and they know that i made the payments.(My father in law is 72 years old and he just found a 56 year old girfriend so he is in his honeymoon and in love, he does not seem to care about anything only her lol!) So everything in that part was good. The bank called me and i have to pay $755 today to get the truck out, They are really jerks, but once i get my western union copy showing they cashed the money order you better believe i am going to the branch and discuss everything with the manager. Right now all I need back is the car. There goes my Christmas presents for my kids. What a christmas gift i have rec from Suntrust Bank. Thank you all for being so supportive and for caring, from the bottom of my heart i was depressed yesterday but after i read all of your posts i feel so much support and somfort, i really love all of you!

I'm so glad that you are feeling better today Katelyn. I'm also glad that your father-in-law and husband are being supportive of you and realizing that it's not your fault. I'm sorry to hear about the $755 though, that really sucks! I will pray for you that things work out in your favor as this is the banks fault, not yours and you should not have to pay for their mistake!!! Keep us posted.

That's a great idea! Hopefully, you'll be able to get that money back, it seems ridiculous that you have to pay for the bank's mistake and they have no control over it! That seems very wrong to me. If they have proof that you in fact did send the money and they cashed it, then they should be responsible. Let us know what the attorney tells you.......I hope it's good news!

I went to the bank and paid the $755.23 and they gave me the phone number to the repo place and when i called the jerk there tells me that noe i have to pay $135 for storage. Can you believe this? Wait till I get the proof that suntrust cashed that money order they are going to be in big trouble. And when i am at the bank the lady had the guts to ask me if i wanted to open up a checking account and they will give me a $50 gift card. I told her even if Suntrust would give me $2000 right now i would'nt even open an account with you after all the inconvinience you put me thru.

I am sorry Kate that you have had to deal with this stuff right before x-mas that really bites the big one. At least you were able to get your truck back and your husband and father-in-law were so understanding. You need to contact an attorney to see what your rights are on this this is insane.
