I had to stop payment on 2 payday advancements that told us they would wait till this friday for us.now i know that prosecution is prohibited in ky,my question is what are they gonna do with a stop payment???

Guest, I am guessing they are storefronts...Would you please tell us who they are with. There are several members from your state and they may have experience with your pdl companies and can help you. I would suggest you contact them and tell them what you did and why and attempt to work out a payment plan with them.

They will call most likely and want their money. You do need to contact them and explain the situation and find out what their next steps are. Hang in there. Like I said , there are several members from your state who have dealt with storefronts and can advise you further. I would check back mid morning.

guest, you apparently are already in defualt on both loans? Am I assuming this correctly? Are they both at Cash Express? Okay. So Cash Express agreed to hold the checks until this past Friday (12/07) correct? But when you were unable to make the payment & didn't go to the storefront, they ran the checks through the bank? Right? I am making sure that I am understanding everything correctly. So you had already put a stop payment on both checks so that they were returned? Has Cash Express contacted you regarding getting the checks back? Can you please post to clarify any questions that I have? I want to be sure I understand everything that has happened so far.

Thanks, guest! More than likely what's going to happen is, of course, they are going to contact you. You can take the first step and call them & say "I know my bank returned the checks to you". Or you can wait for them to contact you. Once contacted, if it's by the actual storefront, they'll want you to come in and pay the full amount & re-write. That's just what they do. God love them. They might work with you themselves and hold the checks and you can make payments to them. They might turn you over their corporate office for collections. In which case, you can make payments. They may also (they have this option) turn you over to an attorney for collections - if they do this, they'll tack on extra 'attorney fees'. Whatever their policy is, you won't get "in trouble" because you put a stop payment on them. But you WILL have to explain to them that you do not have the money to pay them, that you put the stop payment on because you knew you did not have the money and couldn't have a bank fee charged to you, and you're also going to have to make payment arrangments. I'm not sure of Cash Express' policy regarding returned checks (as far as collections go). However, just know that I had one returned to a storefront as a "closed account". I thought my butt was in big trouble. No. Just explain your situation and set up a payment plan to get these guys paid off.
