QuEsTiOn about a credit card 90 days past due
Date: Sun, 12/16/2007 - 13:25
I had a credit card w/a credit union that was past due like 90 days at one point. I did over the next 6 months pay the card off in full. How come it shows up as a negative mark on my credit report? I realize it was delinquent, but I did pay it in full and then closed it. Any way to get this to appear as more of a positive mark?
Thanks,

Hello DebtKing, and welcome!
Your credit card account shows up as a negative mark on your credit report due to it being past due at one time. Anytime a credit account is past due by any amount (even just 30 days), it is reported as being delinquent and leaves a lasting negative mark on your credit report.
The only way to have this show up in a more positive light, in my opinion, is time. The more time that passes since the account was negatively reported, the better off it will look to potential creditors in the future. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I've never heard of a way of removing a negative mark from a report that was accurately reported.)
Hope that helps...sorry if it's not what you were hoping for.

You are of course, right, SueBee. Unfortunately you will have to live with the negative mark till it falls off. However...if that is the only time you were late that should show up too...where it shows how many times you were 30/60/90 days late.

You can try writing a good will letter to the management of the credit union to see if they will forgive the lates on your report.
