So, now the pdl companies are hitting my old account, luckily I have everything switched over to my new account. So, do I call my branch and explain to them the situation and tell them I will pay the balance off???
I am at a loss...

A few questions...what bank are you with? Did you tell them when you closed the old account WHY you wanted it closed? If you indicated it was due to companies taking unauthorized ACH payments from your account, there is paperwork you can fill out to get that money back they just took, plus fees refunded from the bank. You need to be up front with the bank when you do things like this. Especially if you open your new account with the same bank. They can turn around and do a "right-of-offset" to recoup their funds. That means that if your old account is overdrawn, they can take that overdrawn amount from any other account at their bank with your name on it to bring the old account positive. You really need to communicate with them and tell them what's going on. Trust me...they've heard it all and won't be surprised. I know it's probably embarrassing to talk about it with them, but they know what they're doing and can help you keep your money safe.
