Welcome ot the Community :D Is this with the original creditor? If so, I don't know of any way, other than pay down the balance and be on time with payments.
When I was trying to get out of debt, I contacted the CC Companies and asked them to put me on their hardship program--where they lower or drop you interest to help you pay it off sooner. I had to commit to a one year payment plan with them on this, and if you are late or don't make your payments, they take you off.
It won't hurt to ask them about this. If they have mistakenly put a late or overpayment fee, contact them and dispute the charges..
Feel free to ask questions, we are here to help..KAren
Late fees/over the limit fees
I called most of my creditors last month when I knew I was running into trouble. I have had most of these accounts for years. Only 1 card put me on a hardsip program dropping the rate a little for 6 months. The rest of them had nothing to offer. When I called Chase they actually told me there was nothing they can do until I was late and then they would charge me a late fee. I was trying to prevent that-DUH? Well I have gotten this months statements from 2 of the creditors I was late on and they hit me with late fees, over the limit fees and one of them (Citi) jacked my rate up to 31.24%.
It can't hurt to call and ask. Who knows you may get someone having a good day or something but for me, only one helped me out.
girl--since you are late now, will they work with you and drop o

Late Fees
Hi Bossy-
No, I decided they did me a favor. We owe a lot of debt and the lower interest or no payments for a while would have helped us out but it would have also been a bandaid on a much bigger problem.
I did not like how I was treated when I called for help. After being a "loyal" customer for years, I see myself as damaged goods to them. Being told to be late so that I will be hit with a late fee didn't stick well with me at all. I am going to pay them all but I am going the debt settlement route. I decided I will talk to all of them...in about 100 days or so.
Getting my recent statements from them helped me decide to rid ourselves of debt for good. I mean take my Chase, nearly $400 minimum last month is over $1000 now. If I couldn't make the $400-how am I gonna pay over double?
girlndebt you are not damaged goods to them..you are PRIME PROPE
girlndebt you are not damaged goods to them..you are PRIME PROPERTY... you are like Park Place and Boardwalk on the Monopoly board of life girl!...EXACTLY where they have wanted you to be from day one of your doing business with them ....
you are from what I have seen EXACTLY what they try to create for the biggest profits possible..
when you were a loyal customer and paid balances in full each month etc. you weren't making them the maximum profit they could obtain...now they have hit their max. they can get out of you ..and are done with being nice to you ...
and when you talk to them in 100 days or so they will still make a grip of money..and kudos for taking care of debt you owe and settling!!!!
p.s.myself... after having numerous credit cards for over 20 years..if you pay off your balance each month in full..I know from experience...you don't get as many credit line increases..you instead get more and more offers for more credit when you don't pay than when you are what you and I would consider a "loyal" customer...From what I have seen from my time on this site and ESPECIALLY after I read a wonderful post on this sight suggesting to see the "Maxed-out" documentary (if you haven't seen it yet)...watch this documentary on the credit card cos. here in America and it will really open your eyes ...and you will truly see that you are not alone here on this site and you are DEFINITELY not alone in this country. I wish you the best of luck and hope your life is less stressful 6 months down the road..... take care and please don't despair!!!!
p.s. I love your avatar!!!!
Late fees/over the limit fees
Thanks you for the advice. I am very glad I found this site. Oh gosh yes, I seen Maxed-Out one night and I woke up the next morning in such a bad mood! The same thing with Sicko. Both movies opened my eyes for sure!
P.S. Thanks-I luv Tink!
