What will a recession mean

What will a recession mean for us? Interesting thought. I do remember the last one and I know that the following was true: it was almost impossible to find a job if you had limited or no experience (I was a kid and was just starting out), more and more people will be out of work as companies cut the bottom line and perhaps interest rates will go down (?) as a way to jump-start the economy.
Some things are identical to the last one. For starters, we are now in a controversial war, like were before.

I am scared to death of a recession. Now that I am paying off my debt, I am not able to save very much money for a rainy day. Hopefully what I have been reading about this possible recession will not happen.
