debt settlement

Hi you seem very knowlegable on this subject.So I hope you can answer a couple questions. I got severly in debt due to medical bills and no insurance. I owe about 35000 dollars in medical bills and 25000 to citibank. Will debtsettlement still work if you own a home and a few acres of land? Or will they just try to put a lien on that?I am getting out some money from my 401k to pay some of the medical but I vcant pay it all. And I am thinkink about trying to settle with citibank. Is there a placeon the internet to get the info and forms I would need to do this for free or are they all pay only?

There is a section on here titled "DIY" that may give you some ideas, however, I would defintely sign up for a free debt consult with this site and perhaps they can give you some advice.

You can click on the right side of your screen to talk to someone immediately, call the 1-800-601-1579 and talk to someone.

I haven't done the debt settlememt myself but others on here have done so. Just post any questions that you have and someone will be along shortly to help you.

Welcome to the Community Brad :D As Ladybug said, there are several options for debt problems, and the free counseling may help you with that.

Have you spoken with the Medical people about your debt? Sometimes they will have programs that will help reduce or write off your debt if you can't pay, but I think this is an income thing. My brother has dealt with this after his wife had a stroke.
