I have increased substantially in debt after taking on bills that were originally supported by two incomes. I also had a health crisis that has financially set me back and caused me to take a lower paying job. I cant get ahead now!

hi sexifem! don't loose heart. If you have too many bills to pay, then try going in for a debt settlement or a debt consolidation program. in that case you will be relieved of the pressure of handling too many bills all at once. if the current pay of your job is very low, you can try bringing in some extra cash with a another part time job. considering the fact that you are not in good health don't take up anything strenuous. as dausilou said start with the medical bills first. as you said two incomes, if anyone else was the reason of these debts, then try keeping in touch with that person to come up with his share of payment. don't feel so lonely. you find many people who will try to help you out with the problem. good luck!

Sounds like you are feeling stressed out about your debt. First take a deep breath, there is an answer out there. You have many options, depending on the size of your debt and your available income, you could consider, debt consolidation, debt settlement or bankruptcy. Many lawyers offer a free consultation and this site has a free consultation as well. Research all your options then make a decision. I'm trying debt settlement.

There are many people here who are similar positions as you, read the post on the forums and the blogs. There should be some helpful information for you.

In the mean time while you are working on those other situations, you might want to see about calling your creditors and see if some of them will work with youi and if you have documentation of your health issues and such, you can volunteer to send them the information to show facts. Some may work with you and some may not, but while you are checking out consolidation, settlement, etc, this might be a place to start.

And as you can see by the responses, you aren't alone, we have all been there or are going though financial issues, there are always speed bumps but posting seeking out help whether it be debt consolidation, settlement or bankruptcy can help you feel better and get on the road to freedom.
