I got a $200 loan from Cash Today Ltd. in the summer of 2006 and paid it back, but the company says I didn't. I have bank records to show I did. They continued to try to take $ out of my bank account, but my bank alerted me and stopped the transactions. Now they are harassing me and saying I owe $2,600 and they will call my boss if I don't pay them. I know it's not legit but how do I get them to stop? Will they call my boss and embarrass me? I can't get an address to send them a letter revoking my wage assignment. If I e-mail them, does that work. I think they are a Dominican Republic company. Can anyone help me?

hi Charming! well if you have paid back the loan then you must be having some relevant documents regarding this, right? You have the bank records, so they can do you no harm as such. maybe they are using scare tactics to get hold of some cash! some people can go to great lengths for money, don't forget that! if they are threatening to call up your boss, the best thing is to notify your boss about this yourself. i am sure he will understand. and in this way they wont have anything to scare you with, (unless they come up with anything else) :)just wait and watch what they do. others will be soon here to help you with this. take care!

charming, you're dealing with a highly illegal company. Don't feel alone. I'm giving you all the information that I have and hope it helps. First of all, they NEVER contacted my employer. They just totally harrassed the hell out of me via telephone. And they will NOT give up. Illegal hounds is what they are. Do you have a working email address for them? If so, use it. They're not too big on email, but if you've got a working one for them, take advantage of it. Here is a mailing address for them. All it is is a "drop box" here in the US - which they then forward on to their company which is overseas. However, use this address:
Cash Today Limited
1005 Terminal Way, Suite 110
Reno, NV 89502
I'm giving you every damn phone number I have for them also. These people are horrible.
1-800-680-2177
1-800-670-4075
1-877-210-9423 ext. 5909
442084922780 (UK phone number)
FAX #: 1-800-690-9926

Also, please, please, please file complaints against these guys. File with the BBB, the FTC, and your state AG. You may not have loan documents because they are usually "verbal agreements" and have no paperwork involved. Nice, huh? Be sure to file with the FTC. They are very interested in this wonderful company. If you have any questions, just post.

You also need to file a complaint with NV as they have a case against them right now.

It's kinda funny how you post this and bam I get a call from Brian  from there. I have e-mailed them so many time to cease comm. with me and that I have filed so many complaints. I have told the that I forward any comm from them to my state and NV. But yet they still call about every other month. They can just keep calling because I have paid them back more than what I owed so they can just kiss my you know what :x

Although this outfit has an address in Reno (that I really think is just a maildrop), they are actually based out of London. So yes, they are indeed an offshore company, not located in the Dominican Republic.
Any call they make to you is made out of London, trust me. And if you call them, it's call forwarded overseas.
Document ALL dealings with them and report them to all authorities--even your local police dept. Document all of their violations of the fdcpa, as they clearly don't care about it and think it doesn't apply to them.

Ok, I have filed FTC, BBB and AG complaints. These idiots STILL continue to hound me. I finally got weary of it and actually took one of the Cash2day calls. I identified myself and asked brightly, "Glad you called...where's my refund?" LOL! Got tired of them today and asked to speak with Darren Webb...and I think it was just another agent who got on the line. I filed the AG complaint a few days ago; does anyone know how long it takes them to get word to these nuts?

telecom, unfortunately these guys are friggin hounds. However, I see that you filed with your AG. Good job. They will send them letters (they will never respond to them though). But, just a tip, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE file a complaint with the FTC. Just go to their website and file a complaint. Believe me, they want all the information on these jokers that they can get.

Hi Cannr - I did file a complaint with the FTC, so all three reporting bodies have been notified. And I just recently filed with the Nevada AG as well. I know that Polly successfully got them to send a refund; I am hoping for the same outcome or at least a PIF. Have you noticed that on the BBB site, they never even showed up for a hearing that resulted in a 50k fine against them?

I'm not surprised at all. And I agree with ks. They probably didn't even pay the fine. They are so nasty. Since you've filed with the agencies (great job!), you're on your way. The AG will send letters (which they probably won't respond to). My AG actually kept sending them letter upon letter upon letter. They didn't respond to the BBB. They just ignore everything. But they'll call the hell out of you until you're ready to tear your hair out! Hang in there with them. If you can avoid the calls, do so. Don't even speak to these illegal people. Totally amazing.

If it can be confirmed that they indeed never paid the Nevada fine, then they should be barred from doing any business in that state (and that means closing their wonderful maildrop on Terminal Way in Reno)and any loans they have issued to residents of Nevada should be declared null and void. I'm sorry, it has to end now!!

I am so glad that I read this site. Although I did not read it until after I was accepted for a loan. I started calling those numbers that was listed on one of the replys and I was transfered to someone whom I had spoken to earlier about the loan and somehow he knew who I was(caller id). They refused to give me the web site and wanted to know how I got that number because it was not the number that they had given me. The number that was supplied to me was busy at all times. I did not answer their questions but instead hung up.Shortly after that they sent me an email declining my for and stated they could not give me the reason. Since they have my info should I cancel my checking acct or what.

lemkak...how lucky you are. I am sure other members will weigh in with opinions  . It was not that difficult for me to close my account, I can change my direct deposit and the bank was willing to work with me. If it were me, and from reading what people have posted, I would close it. I was given a loan by a company I never applied to. They put money in my account and then started taking their payments out. Unlike you I had 7 pdls so I did not notice this. I do not trust anyone anymore. The other thing you could do is watch your account closely and see what happens but if they give you money and/ or they actually debit, you have to jump through all the hoops to dispute and then close your account. Just a thought.

i posted on these people the other day...what's odd is i don't remember hearing from them before monday (my loan is allegedly from 2005)...all of a sudden i get a message from their 'legal department' ... the phone number i got is 877-290-5259...are these the same, i mean it's the same name but in looking on this great site i haven't seen that number appear yet, though i'm getting the same threats (wage garnishment, call boss) and the same absurdity of not telling me in writing what i owe

Those are all the same people. Another number that they've left as a callback number for me is 1-800-670-4075. Normally it's this creepy dude with an accent so thick you can barely understand him, but some times it's this British girl who actually sounds pretty cute! It must be their good cop/bad cop routine.

yeah they said my 400 dollar loan from 2005 is costing me 4700 with a settlement offer of 1700.

How much interest can they actually charge me? I know PA law says that internet lenders are subject to the state they're licensed in...what state or states are these people licensed in?

this is very annoying, i can't seem to get any documenation from them at all.
