Welcome to the Community :D I know how you feel, as do many others here.
First, can you tell us the following:
1. What state do you live in
2. Are the pdls internet or storefront, and how much was borrowed and paid back
3. Are the other debts with the original creditors or collection agencies?
The best thing to do is open the mail, sort it out, and try to go from there. If they are with the OC, sometimes they have a hardship program and will work with you.
Try to get your most important bills such as rent, mortgage, utilities, etc., taken care of first.
If you have any questions, please ask..Hang in there!..karen

Thank you for your response. I live in TN and most of the PDL's I have had for a year or longer...I just (dumb I know) kept adding one more when I had an emergency, and the last few years, we have had many emergencies. Then recently I got some on line to cover basic expenses. These fees are eating up my paycheck.
Some of the other, hospital bills, credit cars are with oc, but a couple are with collectors.
I would say that over all we are about $20,000 in debt. My husband will be making about $1400 a month and I make $2700...I just cannot seem to gain any ground. When my husband got hurt in Nov.....that was the icing on the cake. We have no luxuries, no fancy cars, no cable TV?

I have heard that these companies can bring charges against you if you default? Then I have heard that some will work with you applying the fee to the balance? The PDL's that is.

Please respond to the questions that Bossy asked. Then we can begin to help you

First, take care of your basic needs housing, food, lights and transpotation.
Second, get on a strict budget, no eating out, buy basic foods etc.
Third, pay the minimums on current bills and try to get current with the cc's. The medical debts should be easier to deal with later.Sell anything you can, do not be attached to anything you don't need. If you have a car worth over 5000 sell it and buy a 1000 car.
Cut everything you dont need, cable, cells and any retirement investing until you are dept free. I would advise you to read Dave Ramseys Total Money Makeover book, it will help you better with your details. Good luck.
