Statement indicating I owe for doctors visits from 2 yrs.ago
Date: Thu, 09/29/2005 - 18:42
I received a statement from a doctor that said they did an audit and that I owe $180 from November/December 2003.
I disagree with this, as it was a pay as you go type chiropractor. Should I ask for proof (you had to sign in at the time of your visit)? I haven't received any notifications that I owed them anything. What are the statute of limitations.

Hi Joan,
Welcome to forums.
Should I ask for proof
You should ask for a validation. Whenever some body tries to collect a debt, he or she should produce some written documents that can proof that you really owe the debt. debt validation should state the information about original creditor and the history of the account as well.
What are the statute of limitations.
Statute of limitation varies for different state and it also depend upon the type of agreement. Could you please tell us which state do you belong to? That would help us to be more specific.

Hi Joan
Do you have the copies of your payments made towards the medical debt in 2003? This proof will be enough to solve all the disputes.
