Should i take them up on this and pay this even tho my original loan was for 250 and i have paid that over double fold? i sent a complaint to my states attrny general? THey say they are the original creditors but the calls i get are from Westbury Ventures not them.

Thank you for editing my post, i thought i had but i guess i missed somethings. Yes I have already overpaid them, but they say they will continue collection calls. I can send them a moneygram for 100 and be done w/ them forever. I am just so tired of fighting these damn companies. I can go into a moneygram agent pay 100 in cash and be done? WOuldnt that just be the easiest method. I am still fighting WEstbury Ventures/ The loan shop but i have had no response from them at all.

Oh i am in Louisiana. Rollovers are illegal and yet they say i should have "known" that...lol, Yeah well they should have "known" they were illegal.

I personally wouldn't pay them another red cent. You have overpaid them...they are hoping people will still send them money...I had dealings with the loan shop/westbury ventures and I filed a complaint with the Kansas City Mo BBB bureau and the state of delaware bbb and the attorney general's office of my state and mo and delaware and I got a response from them with a pif. Hang in there and don't cave into them.

You should take it into consideration . . . . Frankly, when I was going through my pdl mess, if I had extra money I could have paid them to get off my back I would have. $100 is not a ton of money. Yes, it's more then you legally owe, but you have to consider the amount of time and effort it will take you to clear up the loan. What is that time worth to you? It may be worth it to pay them the $100 and be done with them.

but they wont stop calling me at work, i dont care if they call my phone a million times at home, that doesnt bother me at all, i just want them to stop callign my work and they state they dont have too. THey are already illegal so they dont care. I just wonder if it would be easier to just pay off the 100 and be done w/ them. I got into the payday loan cycle when my husband was deployed b/c our money was so tight but that was in 2005 and i have stayed far away from them since. Is there a statue of limitations on pay day loans?

If you can afford to pay them the 100 dollars then do it...just to be rid of them! Also make sure you have that agreement in writing and you get a PIF. If it doesn't bother you to fight for your rights then continue to fight on. However if you do agree to send the money the next time they called I would let them know when you will send it and to cease the phone calls or the deal is off.

Well, I know it's a royal pain in the butt to deal with these pdl companies, and all the paper work, complaints and sleepless nights of fighting for your rights involved in doing so, but I look at it in a different way. You've overpaid this comapany, they've violated the law, and how many other people's complaints have they responded to with this same exact letter (basically)? Just think about 10 people (VERY low average of people as an example) overpaying them and settling for a $100.00 reduced offer, that's $1000.00 they did NOT deserve to get. Guess I am a fighter, and I would rather do everything within my power to make business difficult for these pdl companies, rather than cave in and get them off my back. I look at things from a wider spectrum rather then what will benefit me short term. I also consider the thousands of other people out there who are caught up in the same pdl vicious circle. It's totally your call, but if it were me, NO, I would fight, because that's just me. With all due respect to you and those who choose not to, this is just my opinion for what it's worth. :)

Many people have the fighter attitude like you shazzers - I'm just saying it's really a personal decision that you have to make for yourself if you want to fight it to the end or if you want to settle and be done sooner. There really isn't a right or wrong, it's what's best for this person in this situation.

In some people's situations they would rather pay and be done with it.

Just like some people prefer to hire a company to deal with the pdls, rather then do it themselves. There is no right or wrong, it's what is best for each individual situation.

Soldier's wife needs to do what is best for her. She is the one that will be effected by this. She needs to decide for herself what she wants to do, and she needs our support whatever she chooses, if she decides to fight it or settle.

Yes i have filed w/ my states attorney general and the FTC.. It just seems these people dont CARE what the laws are and if they are breaking them, and alot of people still view this as "our fault". Yes i should never have taken out a payday loan but if it were not so easily availiable when you are desperate you will do what you have to do. I want to put companies like this out of business so noone has to deal w/ them but it appears as tho noone is really on our side.

I agree with you soliders it is a different story when you have legally paid back what you have borrowed from them, another story if they try to suck more money from you..but as goudah says it is up to you..just make sure that whatever you do get that PIF letter or email for your records.

i appreciate both views and understand them all, It's just extremely frustrating to know you've been violated and there is not alot of recourse to fix the problem. I applaud the states that have been very proactive and have issued ceas and desists.. it proves there is a grave problem in this unregulated field. I sent off a letter today to one click cash tellign them that i have contacted my states attny general office and disputing my payments once again. I also told them i'd be forwarding any correspondance and documenting any phone calls. I guess i'll try again since i have till 2/15 to decide to settle. Are money grams safe?? Can u pay them w/ cash?

Interesting point Soldierswife. Maybe the ag in NEb should know about this. They probably have a toll free number you might want to give them a call. Also, PDL;s are not allowed to loan to military personal and their families anymore so you and your fellow military families have been saved from these crooks! My two cents on paying, if it is affecting your job and stressing you out then you should do whatever helps to relieve your stress. You probably have enough to deal with already with your hubby on deployment. Best wishes to you!

Soldierswife-I wouldnt pay by cash. You can get those prepaid credit/debit cards just for the amount you want to pay them off and thats it. Or you can send a money order. Sending cash isnt a good idea. Just a thought. You can shred the credit card once payment is recieved. I paid off one of my old accounts and it worked well. Just a thought.
