Collection agency?
I have a hosp bill which the colleciton agency failed to validate the debt despite my letters. I know they are not suppose to but can they sell the debt off to another collection agency? Do collection agencies sell debts to other collection agency's? Thanks

i have a dedt that i can only pay small payment each month but they are asking for the whole bill because it keep going up and up. i can not do anything about it the payment that i can afford is way under the min. about what should i do.

My personal advice ( from dealing with this, on a medical bill). Is this a 'new' debt? If not (if the debt has 'been out there' a while, I would get your Credit Reort and see what the SOL is. I'm sure it would be on your CR. If this a 'new' debt, I would do the following. FIRST...you should validate the debt with the CA, who claims they 'own' it now. Ask them to send you something in writing on the amount owed and the ORIGINALLY creditor ( where the bill came from). If you CAN validate it, then ..great!! When you send paym, ents, send them in Money Orders..this way you can 'trace' if the CA has cashed them AND you have a reciept for your payments. Keep ALL reciepts, from Money Orders.Even if you can only pay a little at a time, at least you are making an effort to pay them. MOST CA's CANNOT refuse a payment. If, for some reason, you go to court for this, at least you would have proof you have been paying SOMETHING. Hope this advice helps.
