has anyone heard of vanderbilt mortgage before?

For some time now I have suspected that someone has been using my identity fraudulently. This is the latest step in this battle. There was an entry on my credit report last year for a mortgage that was supposedly foreclosed upon. According to the info, they claimed that I abandoned this house in 2006, but the whole deal took place in Kentucky. I have lived in Louisiana for almost five years now and have never lived in KY. So, I contacted the company, no luck with them. I then contacted the credit bureau, and the OC took the entry off my report, stating that they had made an error.
Now, there is a new creditor, Vanderbilt Mortgage, listing the same account on my credit file again! Come to find out that the OC no longer exists--they went bankrupt and Vanderbilt bought up a bunch of their collection accounts. I havent been able to find much out about them except that they have been in business for 30 years. They have been reporting this on my credit file for some months now, with no communication from them about it. So, at this point they have already violated the fdcpa, because they initiated collection activity without providing the required consumer rights disclosure. I would just like to know how the hell they even got their hands on this account when it was all supposed to be deleted because it was a mistake.
Needless to say a DV letter will be going out in the mail this week. I am just looking to see if anyone's ever heard of them or dealt with them before.
Wow, this is a mess, I hope you can get this cleared up soon.

I have never heard of the company, if they have been in business for thirty years there should be some information out there on them, have you tried to google them? I found this information on them

Vanderbilt is not a good company to do business with
Vanderbilt is known for bullying its late-paying customers and taking illegal action in order to get money. They routinely sign people up for mortgages exaggerating the customer's income in order for the debt-to-income ratio to be at an allowable level for a mortgage to be sold to the customer. Their customers are also regularly given interest rates between 10% and 20% which is highway robbery. Not a good company, they have a reputation for being hard to deal with and incompetent, like demanding payments that a customer has already paid and that the company has already cashed. You may have to take the company to court in order for things to be set right.
Vanderbilt
Be careful giving your information to Vanderbilt. They will call your job, family, friends, etc and harrass you to no end. They will claim they are from the legal dept & are filing a criminal complaint against you. They claimed to know about the house I "owned" and were going to put a lien against it - but I was renting, so I realized it was an empty threat. Any true attorney would know how to look up property records to find the owner. Good luck!
