First, my thanks to everyone on these boards for sharing your wisdom and hard-earned experience. I finally found the courage to fight all of my PDLs. Froze the bank account, wrote the letters, filed the BBB complaints. Had just stepped into some freedom when something came up, and I (stupidly) decided to hit a very small loan one more time under the new bank account. (I know - NOTHING could be a more poor choice.) I don't even want to post the name of the PDL; that's how paranoid and worried I am right now. I did check pretty thoroughly to make sure they are not affiliated with anyone I owe, but I'm now terrified that the old PDLs will learn of this new account (different bank) and try to hit it. Even if the PDL I just used is not linked to any of my old ones, can the other PDLs find the new account number via Teletrack? I just started on a good foot with this new bank and don't want to close another account at this point! How realistic is my worry? I am losing sleep! And to answer the obvious question - yes, I really HAVE learned my lesson with PDLs, although it may not seem like it right now! Thank you for a place that we can all come to in honesty and in seek of help.

Take a deep breath! I'm not sure if any of the old ones can find your new account this way or not. Many of them do share info. I think the best thing would be to pay it off very quickly and keep close watch over your account.

Many of us that have fought the pdl batte have thought of doing it again...after battling 10 myself I almost did it again a few weeks ago...I was able to stave it off...but when ever things get tight I think of it...what stops me is all the pain I went through and all the money I lost in fee's!

Just remember how you felt when you were first plagued by them..that should be enough to keep you away from them...I know in my situation I would never in million years ever go back to that pdl mess/hell I was in, however when you don't have anywhere else to go and have no choice then I can understand..but take morning's advice and pay them off right away

Obviously the safest thing to do would be to close the account, but this is what I would do. My wife and I just closed our account that the PDL's were attached to. When she went to open a new checking account at another bank the bank person had what I consider a great idea even without the PDL issues.

We are both on direct deposit, she gets paid once a month so at times there is a large amount of money in the account. He suggested all deposits go into account "A", we only right checks from account "B", we can transfer the money from account "A" to "B" and the transfer takes place immediately. We also have debit cards for both accounts.

I think if you opened up another account and used that for deposit only and only used the account that the PDL deposited in for check writing you'd be pretty secure.

Good idea lonegunman.Dointelecom, dont beat your self up. If I had a crisis I cant say I wouldnt go for it myself. Hopefully with the little savings account I am trying to build I wont have to but I know if I did you would all be here to support me like they are all here to support you.

Thanks for the quick responses, everyone! I can't tell you how much education this board has provided to me...and the support is really helping to keep me going! I am going to pay the new PDL off within 4 days of the deposit - truly "short term", a new concept for me! It is finally starting to sink in how much pain I have caused my family (who have bailed me out before but just couldn't this time) and I am determined to face whatever I need to face to regain the control that I gave away. I already won the battle with one after filing with the BBB..and they refunded the large amount that they had caused me in NSFs, dropped all finance charges, applied previous payments and we agreed on a reasonable figure within my state's limits. Waiting on BBB intercession for the others. 1 down, 11 more to go and if there is a squint of light at the end of the tunnel for me, I'll keep digging through to get it. The new one is CTC..and I have never used Sonic or any of their other affiliates so I am hopefully safe. Anyone know if Teletrack actually shows the bank account number? LOVE YOU GUYS :)
