Westbury - Collecting on Closed Account
Date: Mon, 01/28/2008 - 08:59
Long story short the OC (maybe?) called to tell me they had marked the account PIF - but Westbury Ventures keeps calling and sending letters - clearly dated after the date I spoke to the account manager who told me to disregard any further collection attempts.
Now I'm pretty sure Westbury doesn't have a legal leg to stand on - but how do I get them to leave me alone?
I'm working on a Cease Communications Letter to them right now. If they continue contacting me would I report them to the AG or the FTC?
I'm located in Illinois.
Thanks

they wont stop even after a cease and desist. I"ve tried w/ them, they are ruthless.. they have no regards for the law. They are hoping to scare as many people into payment as possibe.
Westbury Ventures
After reporting the several unauthorized attempts to my bank (fraud dept.) the bank worked with me and called Westbury in a three-way call. Their tune soon changed. In addition I filed a complaint with BBB and they forwarded a memo response received from Westbury that the account was now closed and no further collection would be taken. (Westbury at no time sent anything written to me.)
Be on the watch because they seem to have sold the account and I am getting threatening messages ON THE PHONE AT WORK from a United Federal Bank traced back to Bass Prelitigation/Jackson Phillips & Associates and in turn traced back to Westbury Ventures and Timberhill
