Hi guys,

I am very new to the idea of debt consolidation VERY new!!! I signed up for a free consultation and am very much looking forward to it to see if debt consolidation is even the best answer to my situation. But, if it is...........would you guys recommend I go through an organization or do-it- myself? How many of you guys have successfully done this yourself? What do you recommend. I know these forums are a great resource and I look forward to digging in.

hi frogpatch,

My husband and I are 17,000 dollars in debt and we are 21 years old. We accrued this rather quickly due to a wedding, a used car (to replace our old used car) and a couple months of not being employed, also a couple of bad decision on my husband's part and some wishy-washy no's on my part. So, that's where we are right now. Our average apr is at 17%.

Right now, we make about 2600 a month and our monthly payments are at $1300. Our rent is $1000.00. So, we are doing ok, but at the same time barely keeping our heads above water. My husband is a personal trainer and I work with kiddos with disabilities and we are neither of us get paid if our clients cancel, go on vacation, or just can't make the appointment. So, our income actually varies from 2300-3200 on a monthly basis, but is generally about 2600. We are both seeking part time jobs, and we've been doing "get paid to sign up" websites in the mean time to make extra money. That brings in about an extra 150 a month.

We are not close to bankrupting, somehow we always seem to make the payments and every few months we get a financial aid check for a couple thousand.(my husband is also a student). I feel that we can conquer the debt and my husband does too. If we both get second jobs it is possible, I think.

oh, also. I just spoke with the woman on the phone from Superior Debt for the free consultation.

Questions I had include:
1) how much does your credit score really drop from this type of activity?

2) they offer a service which they term "credit restoration." This does not seem like something that someone could "do yourself," is it worth it for the $300 a month I would pay them?

** also she said it typically takes someone 12 years to get out of the debt situation I am in paying 50 dollars over the minimum payment, but would be able to pay it off in 2 years with their program. Is this true, even if you are actively attacking your debt?

hi Guest,

I don't know if I'm allowed to post this here, but I have more information on earncashonlinept.blogspot.com/

(I am tracking my struggle to get out of debt there & wanted to use it potentially for referral income as well).

different companies pay you money to fill out offers. The "free" offers are from .50 - 1.50 and then the credit card ones are more. So, if you sign up for a free trial for 12.00 and then cancel before the trial ends, you just earned 12.00. but, you have to stay on top of it or else you get in trouble with the credit card offers. It's tedious, but it will be helping me out as I do it on a more regular basis and it's legitimate in that you really do get the money. You make a lot more money than with surveys, etc.
