I just got a response from the Little Loan Shoppe installment loans -- they are saying that their loan does not apply to state laws because it's not a PDL--it's an installment loan. I can't find where they're licensed. Does anybody know anything about them?

UPDATE:They're licensed in Utah as Little Loan Shoppe installment loans Canada and they're address is in Spokane, WA.

As far as I can tell, when the debits come out they come the name is Little Loan Shop and on the "documents" that they sent me this is what they list themselves as: LLS AMERICA, LLC. DBA LITTLE LOAN SHOPPE. Which from what I have read and can tell usually when a bank is backing one of these loans it says so on the documents, correct?

Usually. Like the ones backed by a bank will say "First Bank of Delaware" or whoever.

As far as Little Loan Shoppe, I have found them to be licensed in Utah as Little Loan Shoppe Canada, LLC and also LLS America, LLC. I haven't found them to be licensed in another state yet. However, what state do you reside in?

And, is this the address you have?

Little Loan Shoppe
90 W 500 S # 2001
Bountiful, UT 84010

I'm leaning towards that, mom. I haven't had anyone else with the experience of Little Loan Shoppe being an "installment" loan. It's just a pdl. They're not even licensed in your state anyway. I have never heard of them being backed by any bank, being an installment loan, etc. You're the first one I've come across that they've claimed this. Doesn't surprise me though. Illegal pdls will pretty much say anything to get "their" money.

Thanks cannr! I just wanted to be super sure before I replied back to them. Yes, MTE is also being a joy to deal with. And The Loan Shop. But I did some research and the Loan Shop/LTS and United Cash Loans have Desist and Refrain orders filed against them by the State of California in July last year. So I told them that from what I can tell they never should have even been able to offer me a loan and that I am reporting that they are continuing to do business here. Anyway, I am just rambling now..... Thank you for your help!!!!

cannr, I have one directly with MTE and I think a few with their d/b/a's. It is so hard to tell who is really under them. I have 15 pdl's out. I have them listed on my original thread. I know Cash Advance Network is, I think United Cash is also. and I have heard Paycheck today is as well. I am nervous about the MTE though, with everyting I have read.

mom, don't be nervous about MTE. They are just snakes, that's all. Always keep in your mind that they are totally illegal. That makes you feel better. It does seem as though you have some MTE related pdls. Ugh. God love them and all their names and addresses. Geesh. They're not as difficult to deal with as some pdls, but they will lie through their teeth to the agencies. And, they'll try to pull fast ones on you. You just have to keep on your toes with them. With them being totally illegal, they have nothing to lose, so they just "go for it". Now, I will tell you that MTE or their d/b/a's never did call me. That's one good thing. We did all our fighting through email and through the government agencies. Not one phone call from them. Illegal jerks.

Thanks cannr! The only one of their d/b/a's that has call me so far is Paycheck Today, and they called me today and sent me an email. I just replied to their email with my letter and reminded them that I would only communicate with them in writing, pls see attached letter previously sent. So now I'm just waiting again. I haven't filed all of my complaints yet, that is going kind of slow. Do the BBB's in the and the AG's office ever say anything like well maybe you shouldn't have taken out so many loans? I get really scared that they are going to judge me and tell me that I am the one at fault.

Thanks for this information--I am having the same problem with this company, Little Loan Shoppe, claiming they are an "installment loan," but they aren't registered in the state of Arizona where I live, either. So far the block on my bank account on these pdl's has held, thank goodness. Both of my parents, whom they have been calling, have basically told them to stop calling and to e-mail or write me by mail. These people are ruthless--I think they will try anything, as you say, to get the money.

Yes, I sent them a cease and desist letter on April 8, and I am filing complaints with my attorney general's office, the BBB, FTC, and division of financial institutions in my state. They sent me a letter telling me they were going ahead with the "installment agreement" but they haven't really responded directly to my letter. So far, however, they haven't been able to debit my account--they tried on Friday of last week, but my bank rejected their debit. I haven't received any correspondence on the returned ACH yet from them.

OMG--I received a letter from the Vice President of Legal Affairs at Little Loan Shoppe--they've marked my loan "Paid in Full." It's over with--I don't believe it. I'm so relieved and so thankful. Now I only have to deal with two more of these . . . thanks to everyone who has been helping/advising on this. Words can only say so much.

Sounds like that would be you're only option right now, HUGGNKISS. Open another bank account, if you can, and close your first one. Loan Shoppe did the same thing to me............they started taking the payments out BEFORE my paydates, which, in turn, made my account overdraw. I just had to close my account and open another one.

who is mte. I've read several posts and I can't correlate mte to anything. Are they a processor. Also has anyone had any success with Compass bank in AZ. They told me I had to have the exact names of the pdl's and pay a charge of $30.00 per stop and $38.00 for every nsf. I am so far 650.00 overdrawn due to payday loans. I have so many online pdl I don;t know the names anymore.

They don't have a bank backing the loans...they sell the loan that you apply for. They are a scam and will suck you dry. They also take money from unsuspecting retirees telling them what a great investment they are when really they are not. Bad bad business....

I work at the little loan shoppe. you people dont know the half of it. You all need to file a class action suit, what we're doing is incredibly illegal. Just one bit of information in the ocean of it that I have- (btw if you dont believe I work there, I'll prove it.) The whole concept where they say "If you default on your loan, you must pay all the installments" is nowhere in the contract. Its per Dee, the owner, and was recently implemented. We're now going back and debitting accounts paid off for over a year now for thousands of dollars that you people DO NOT OWE TO US. I cant sleep at night at this stupid job.
