I am not an expert on this subject and I am sure someone else will be along that is to help you but from what I know, I would say it depends on a couple of things:
1. Did you owe this money or has there been a mix up
3. Have you made any payments on this loan and when was the date of the last payment. Because everytime you make a payment, you start the clock over again.
2. SOL depends on what state you live in which means if you live in a state where the SOL is 4 years or less, than technically you don't have to pay the money back.
Maybe if you could give us more detail about your situation. What type of loan was it? What state do you live in? When was the date of last payment? Is someone trying to collect on this debt and is it the orgianl creditor or a collection agency?
