In many places, if they can't find you, you can still be served
In many places, if they can't find you, you can still be served process by publication, and sued. Even if you can't, they can still trash your credit report pretty thoroughly. If you don't answer a summons, they will get a default judgement. Hiding generally will not help. Your best option is to deal with any creditor proactively.
